I'm an expat so I've written

I'm an expat so I've written to every MP in the UK, it's amazing how the so called socialist caring party (Labour) washes their hands of me emails with only a very few exceptions. The Tories on the other hand have been falling over themselves to help and sympathise - I'm not that naive - I have come to realise that very very few of them really care at all - politicians have a poor reputation and I now have first had experience - believe me they deserve.

I've sent over 1,000 emails so far and one scary thing that has come to light is that a very large number of them are ignorant of most of the facts - they need educating and they need their consciences tweaked into action so I implore everyone one of you that has lost money to keep writing and don't be put off by the standard reply that you're not in their constituency - reiterate your story and ask the assistant to at the very least to do you the courtesy of passing on your communiqué to the respective MP.

Finally, isn't it time we started getting some air time on the TV? 80% of those affected are British, whether onshore or expats - that's 6,000 people plus their families - have the BBC and CNN buried their heads on this one - what can we do about this?

Don't worry too much about

Don't worry too much about us,Shafted. Though it's a nice thought. We're no worse affected than any of you others. Less time to recover the loss- but as we're all going to get our money back I don't spend too much time worrying about that! We're concerned about all those who might be down to their last few quid.
Also a bit concerned for Brown's health as he faces up to 007's new activities..
Keep smiling and keep pestering everybody in sight who might help. Tried the Derby Telegraph yet? W've got an article in there tomorrow - so have afew others from our Group I believe.

There has been no statement

There has been no statement that only UK residents will get their money back - you may be confusing this with the UK branches of the Icelandic banks.

I am retired, and invested,

I am retired, and invested, by mistake in Isle of Mann site, I thought it was the uk but when I realised, I had money in current account earning nothing so decided to stay with iom. this money was for my grandchildren for university etc. However I feel lucky in some ways having read the blog, it really is true there is always someone else worse off than you!
My money was from the sale of my elderley mothers estate and I was just trying to add to it for future generation. I am mortified to potentially lose over £20,000, it had taken her a lifetime to accrue this. I feel so sorry for young and old left destitute, as we were all given really bad advice by so called advisors, they should all leave and retrain as dustmen!

I have no way of recouping the money, in common with other retirees, does the government care? I doubt it! Why are they still paying bonuses to some of these people surely they could recoup some of the money owed?

What about UK nonresidents eligibility

There are of course many rumours and counter rumours flying around on this issue. What is the truth or otherwise to a recent statement I heard that only UK residents will/may receive full reimbursement? If true, then what is the reimbursement picture for those non-residents like me. Even though we were UK born and raised.

one percent

From the poll of ages i feel extremely sad for the up to now !% who are over 75 who must of thought they had seen the end of their wars only to be caught up in the silent one, i just hope the stress all this must be causing is not burdening their health to much.
