YouTube now accounts for almost 20% of all internet traffic. A search under Kaupthing brings up only John Cleese adverts. Searching under kaupthing collapse brings a couple of old and boring news reports.

Do we have any members who are able to record a piece a to camera to sum up the story very briefly and in simple language. If enough good tags are added and everyone with youtube accounts rates it then it will move up the rankings and get mentions.

If anyone does a decent viral email this video can also be run in the email.

I don't have enough skills to do this but am happy to participate in any way I can and will encourage everyone I know to view and rate and pass on links.

We did an impromptue KITCHEN CONCERTO once with several people tapping pots, pans, glasses etc., with spoons (all drunk of course) and put it on utube. We had an idea this morning to do something similar and will be working on it. Short, sharp and to the point, ie. a couple of people singing, Don't bank in the Isle of Man, they will take all your wealth, remove it by stealth, it will not be funny, they'll take all your money and stitch you all up if they can.
This is early days and just off the cuff so all ideas will be welcome.

Lorraine - it seems that someone has taken up your suggestion but, sadly, not on our behalf! This one is targeting United Airlines and, as of this morning, it has taken 1.3 million hits - up from 400,000 last night The predictions are that, by the end of today, it will be up to 5 million. It's all over the radio and is being picked up by the TV stations. Proof positive that your idea works! The consensus is - it works because, not only is it a great idea but, quite clearly, a considerable amount of time, money and effort have been put into it. The latest is that United are in talks with the guy and are very anxious to compensate him! There's a lesson to be learned here.

Happy to supply the song!

You can record a simple video with most webcams. People could each record there own short message, and the results compiled into one video. Or, a single video if a single person wants to do it. The idea of using stills may be more visually impactive, but we don't have many photos. I'm prepared to help with the final compilation, adding sound (backing track) and converting to a suitable format for youtube. But somebody else needs to provide the raw material.

Hi NG,
Before I moved to Sri Lanka I was an opera singer...sang all over the world. I recorded a similar idea for a famous company in mAaaysia and it was really funny.
]How about we record "Dont bank in the Isle of Man " to a song from Pirates of Penzance...Mabels song "Poor Wandring One"? The new words would fit in really well.
I can give it a try out over the weekend and see what words we can fit in.
There is a big chorus singing "Take heart...... " "we could change it to..." take heart..you have been warned"...it fits really well.
I'll fiddle around with it over the weekend
I sang this once on Pebble Mill ....wonder if I can get them to invite me back singing the revised words???>

NG I don't know how to do it but if this is any good. Have a look at my post to see if someone could use it.'Don't bank in the Isle of Man, they will take all your wealth, remove it by stealth, it will not be funny, they'll take all your money and stitch you all up if they can.' This is accompanied by people playing pots , pans and glasses with spoons and singing. Don't bank in the Isle of Man.

There was some talk a while back about this - I suggested doing a video consisting of still shots with text overlay, background music using Nixi's song. Still a lot of work, but easier to do than trying to make an actual video.

Anybody with a Mac, the iPhoto application allows you to make a video from stills. There are Windows apps but I've never used them.

If we had the photos and text, we could pay somebody to do it... I'd guess it would be a couple of hours work for somebody, perhaps charged at 50 quid per hour. For sure somebody knows someone with the skills to do it (I do) and/or we could put it up as a project on elance.com

I have a flip cam (not HD) and a mac. I don't have time to do the editing - I'm in the midst of starting a new business and working silly hours. However if whoever is going to be in it could come to NW London I could record it and upload to my .mac account where someone can retrieve it, edit and post to youtube. If you go onto Elance.com and ask people to bid for the job i'm sure you can get it done for way cheaper than £50/hr. Alternatively, an ad on gumtree.com should find a geek who will do it for a few pints.
