In the Shout Box *upthecreek asked: "Any suggestions to make their pips squeek!!"

Members can be assured that the DAG Strategy Team has not given up on the DAG's Mission. . Right now there is a number of clear strategic objectives being worked on . Unfortunately by their very nature it is not possible for these to be made public at the present time. They will be in due course. They can be summarised as a programme for 'turning up the heat' and some of the tactics will need the active participation of DAG members to achieve the objectives.

In the meantime this post affords members an opportunity for putting forward their own suggestions for "making the pips squeek".

In putting forward ideas, do please state whether you are personally prepared to be party to what you suggest (eg: if you suggest 'sit-ins' in certain public buildings, say whther you are willing to do this)

We have all acknowledged by now that those who wield the power in the IOMG really don't care about our plight. What they do care about though is their reputation/security. It occurs to me that IFAs have placed considerable business with the IOM but do they as a body see the IOM as such a good bet now, especially considering that their members are subject to legal cases and investigation by the Financial Ombudsman Service?

My suggestion is to write to Chris Cummings, Director general of the Association of Independent Financial Advisors (AIFA) and see whether he feels that the IOMG has been complicit in his members now suffering a backlash. If he does then perhaps together we can let the IOMG know that their financial industry will suffer as IFAs desert them for jurisdictions where they care about those who place their money there.

I will be taking this forward and have already drafted my letter to Mr Cummings.

I forgot to state that we would be prepared to commit to any of my ideas for UK actions. We could boost our numbers with friends and family,if we all bought one additional person we would double our numbers.
We are willing to assist in co-ordinating.

Accepting that we are spread all over the world, there are supposed to be 11,000
depositors.
There must be 500 of us in the UK. at least.
So lets have one co-ordinated day of action,in capital cities.
Either the British or Icelandic Embassies.
For UK residents ,either Blockade Douglas IOM or Demo in London or disrupt city Airport or Gatwick from where flights go to IOM.
Fix a date for one concerted effort, but we will need to have a specific undertaking from large numbers --- otherwise it will be ignored.
In the UK we will need at least 500 to be noticed .At previous arranged meeting only around 25 bothered to make the effort, ie TSC x two ,small deligation to Icelandic embassy.
Must be a week day to cause maximum disruption.
We must stop being an inconvenience and become a combined bloody nuisance, only then will they start to listen.

We will support and participate in any action that you propose so long as it gets maximum press attention and coverage in national newspapers. So long as nobody gets killed or injured we are willing to do anything. Count on us. Hopefully a couple of hundred more will say the same.

I think a blockage of Douglas might not do the trick, it will affect innocent people who have nothing to do with our plight. We must go straight to the heart of the matter and attack the real enemy in their back yard. The home of the real enemy is Tynwald and it is there we must battle. How? By sceaming blue murder and refusing to move until they agree to discuss directly with us a solution. All we need is a couple of hundred. Can we do it?

Does anybody know of a celebrity with a high profile that may be sympathetic to our plight / cause or one who may have been a depositor and untill now has kept quiet .

I do remember a while back that somebody posted some comments about Jeremey Clarkson that he may have been a depositor!!

It did work with Joana Lumley and the Gurkas.

Any suggestions.

Does anybody on DAG know?

I was just re-watching some of the old news video clips - according to the ITV (very last clip in the thread), it was Gordon Ramsay. I would just love to hear what he has to say about it...... !

No doubt many of us travel by air. Flybe and many other airlines fly from many airports to the ISLE OF MAN! Check out on google if there is a flight from an airport you are travelling from. Get there early and hand out leaflets at the check in desk for the IOM. When in departures listen for the gate for the IOM and shoot down there to hand out leaflets to the queue waiting at the gate. Print leaflets on your computer headed, WARNING...BANKING IN THE IOM detail the fiasco and the consequences to us and give the web address for the DAG. PIP SQUEEKERS UNITE. WE CAN DO IT, YES WE CAN.

Is this the first of many??

"Abbey puts offshore Isle of Man unit on market"

I believe that advertisements and promotions put out by both the IoM and banks resident there may have been misleading.
The DCS is a sham, having no funds and the promotion that the IoM is a well regulated financial centre is open to question - with the failure of yet another bank there, yes KSF is not the first.
The FSC has been totally ineffective.

In the light of this probable misleading information, a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority (which does have authority in the IoM) seems worthwhile.
Imagine if this is upheld and published.
I am up for lodging a complaint.

This begs the question: Why

This begs the question: Why is Abbey now concentrating its offshore operations in Guernsey and Jersey? Abbey's considerations in this matter could influence other banks in the IoM if we were to pick up and expand on the rational behind their decision. They make no comment in this reference, but perhaps it will surface in another article - keep your eyes peeled.

Who are all these, WE, people everyone talks about? WE need to do this, WE, need to do that? We need people to do things themselves. ACTION, ACTION, ACTION, is what we need,, not leaving it to these WE people, whoever they are.

Yes, this is the first of many.

This is what the IoMG was/is frightened of.
No matter how brave they presume to be, more is the danger.
We monitor this change.
We try to accelerate it.
We now start to do what many, not me, suggested at the beginning, we organise an attrition of their accounts base.
This isn't nice. But who amongst us would agree with the suggestion that the IoMG's actions have been anything other that insulting?

Slowly, slow burn, let's cut their legs off.

These posts are for Pip Squeekers prepared to take action and not leave it for others to do. I have had a run in with a nasty, tricksy, gremlin who has put the muscles in my back into spasm, and I am i so much pain I can't stand up, otherwise I would be on a plane to Gatwick airport to carry out my pip squeeking plan. However this plan can be put into action for months to come. Who is travelling to the IOM? Business men! If you live near an airport, get on down there to the check in queue. WE CAN DO IT. SET FIRE TO THEIR PANTS!!!
