Which country will be next?
I see in the news this week S&P have downgraded Spain's rating to AA and there is talk about them downgrading the UK. This means if we do eventually get our money it could be worthless. I was due to move my money into dollars before I lost access to it. It has now decline by 20% atleast. Jim Rogers says the pound is finished, and he probably has better financial knowledge than Gordon Brown. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financetopics/recession/4325893/UK-re...
This atleast means any overseas assets will be climbing in value if you move back to the UK

Britain' Slide
Triple Wammy: Seized Life Savings, Devalued Currency, Bankrupt Country. All achieved in 3 months by world's second greatest leader after Mugabe, Gordon Brown, the very genius that sold off UKs Gold Reserve at around $200/oz 6 yrs ago.
In USA it took 4 weeks and 2 tries to pass agreement in 2 Houses (Senate and Congress) for bank bailout amounting to 5% US GDP. In UK it took 14 days and minimal debate for bank bailout approval amounting to 41%+ of UK GDP.
I can only imagine the further mortal damage that this Government will inflict on the country before they can be ejected.
I can add to the list a house
I can add to the list a house that is now worthless, all I can say is I'm glad I don't have to live there any more.
UK suffering from "Brain Drain" ?
I wonder as somewhere else (don't remember where) it was considered as an indicator of a failing/failed state.
A country's REAL value
Move back to the uk ?
Now a stink hole built on financial inequality, financial immorality.
Canary wharf was the altar for many bright youngsters who might otherwise have helped britain gain real worth.
Imagine what could be achieved if just a portion of those salaries were available to those pursuing scientific endeavor.
Does leading the world in big money football make one proud to be British ?
Unless there are BIG changes there i'd prefer to take any capital left elsewhere.
My euros would go further in India.
How about Zimbabwe?
the early payment of 1,000 would get trillions of zim$ - and the government is run on a similar basis as the UK!!!!!
A country's REAL value
"Imagine what could be achieved if just a portion of those salaries were available to those pursuing scientific endeavor."
Actually, yes I can imagine. Having watched "carry on screaming" and noted certain other antics from some scientists, better leave it to the Swiss or the Septics. OK, the Americans have a habit of mixing up imperial and metric measurements, which can be a bit of a bugger when inter-planetary distances are involved, but they are not too bad with electrons and things. If it was left to us, the money would be wasted in funding a few doddery old twits with moth-eaten tweed jackets who smelled faintly of cabbage, discovering if it was indeed possible to make fog horns out of fog.
If you choose to invest in India, then I suppose you could open a call centre - though I can assure you that Indian finances are pretty pair shaped at the moment.
A country's REAL value
Well I suppose a least the construction of Canary wharf kept a few ******* [removed by PC filter] in a job.
I have the answer - Brown can announce the British Space project to colonise the moon. That will make Britain great again.
Please post your suggested 5 people who should board the experimental first flight.
The best answer wins a pair of kippers.
A country's REAL value
It seems that Brown may already have colonised the moon, because he is evidently not living on this planet.
A country's REAL value
Maybe its best to follow Brown's lead and put on a brave face.
Beginning with a law that all citizens sport a union jack on their lapels, plus flags on all homes and public buildings.
The illusion of greatness needs boosting.
Who to send into space ?
well there's obviously no shortage of risk takers.
Send all our money instead !
Imagine a corporation head office orbiting the earth in a tax free environment. The ultimate office view, and fog free.
Come to think of it. Setting up an orbiting bank would have no tax liabilities for company or depositors.
( one is taxed on "worldwide" income)
I think the iom should check this one out .
