Firstly , apologies for all the inconvenience. I will try to summarise the reasons behind recent changes:

  • Over the past days and weeks and increasing number of forum posts have been made which do not seem helpful nor supportive to our cause.
  • On more than one occasion, arguments or very negative exchanges have taken place.
  • We were not anticipating this type of problem (we're a team aren't we!?) and so did not have in place sufficient controls to prevent or control these out-breaks. All we could do was plead with those concerned to cease, or edit (moderate) postings, but the latter resulted in others complaining about "censorship" and such.
  • The KSFIoM DAG is, collectively, all of us. The group may also be construed to be the "publishers" of this site and everything on it. As such, the group is potentially a target to legal action if postings in the forum could be considered as defamatory to individuals.
  • We recognise that the perpetrators are a very small minority of our community, nonetheless we could not ignore what was happening.
  • From now on, the DAG itself has its website at www.ksfiomdepositors.org and the open-forum area is at chat.ksfiomdepositors.org.
  • In order to control posting access on the new www.ksfiomdepositors.org, members will be asked to give more details about themselves, including real name and other information to verify their identity. We are still considering how this might best be achieved.
  • As has already been indicated, the time and effort required to do all this is such that the site required funding, and donations will be accepted from now on (further info soon.)

Finally, how sad this is. Our primary objective - 100% return of everybody's deposits - remains unchanged. Yet we are having to spend considerable time and effort dealing with secondary issues. I will say that "offenders" will be dealt with swiftly from now on. Access to posting here is a privilege, not a right. If you do not support our cause you are not welcome here. Enough said.

The "public" site at www.ksfiomdepositors.org is coming together - give it a try. teapot and sleeplessnight have been working very hard on this. We hope, finally, we are presenting key information in an easy-to-find format.

As a reminder, the original web-site was set up in a hurry only six weeks ago. Since that time, we have attracted a huge amount of interest and a large number of users. Gradually migrating the original relatively basic site to the current format has been a difficult process. From day one it has been do now, plan later. We still don't have the perfect solution, but we're working on it.

It's so worrying, where is everybody?? Ever since the change in the website, everyone seems to have disappeared!

Hi. Totally agree with need to split the sites. What a shame though that this has had to happen. It's exactly this divisive development that those who do not want to heed our need for 100% of our deposits back are waiting for. It undervalues our cause and what usually kills the group, the cause and people's sympathy for it. There must be only one way forward - unity of cause and not petty squabbling that gradually erodes it away to nothing. Keep up the good work - all the teams involved- and happy to contribute to keep the momentum of this cause going to the (hopefully) happy end.

How right you are ng. My wife and I 100% agree with the changes and your reasons - its just a shame that the few had to make the extra work for you and make this secondry issue a distraction from our main objective. The sooner they are winked out the better. But we join the majority and thank you, and all the working teams - IOM & London, for your dedication and efforts for us all as well as yourself.

I absolutely agree with Captain Mainwaring (below): I will be very happy indeed to make a donation towards costs, but security is vital, for obvious reasons. I know that you and all those involved with setting up and running this site have been at pains throughout to urge caution on our part in this matter - of security - and hope that a way can be found to achieve your (our) aims, without putting members at risk in any way. Thank you again for all your hard work on our behalf. This site remains a lifeline - it was hard to keep hoping and coping while it was down! - and I applaud all your efforts, and the efforts of all those involved, to help us work and move together towards November 27th.

Hope it works. For the sad types who get their jollies being rude, might I suggest a Bottom Biters Forum?

Quite agree with the comments you make.
I have one major issue and that is security. You ask you my real name and proof of who I am . That is something I cannot possibly consider until I receive assurances as to how and where this data will be stored, and more importantly, who has access to it.
Maybe this is something that you have considered and intend announcing later.
I have no object to the charge being levied, but again hope that there is an easy way to pay this - many of us are overseas and to organize and international bank transfer is not always easy, It would be great if there was a credit card merchant added so that we can pay through CC.

You are right to be concerned about security and privacy. We're in a catch-22 situation - on the one we don't really want people to identify themselves let alone provide further information - we don't want the responsibility of dealing with that data. It could of course all be done, we could have procedures, controls, etc, but much easier to simply not ask any questions. On the other hand, some things may require us to identify people and verify whether they're depositors or not. We sill haven't decided how to handle these issues.

The Group will not be charging fees for access to the site. However, the Group will be paying fees for site technical and design services, management, also related IT support functions. This will need to be funded though donations. As with the legal contributions, all will be accounted for - I guess any money left in the pot when this is all over will go towards the celebration party!

Well done to the organisers of the site. I was really upset after reading some of the statements on OUR site last Sunday. I have looked to the site for friendship and support, but I was too upset even to make a comment.

I hope we can pay by Visa card on the site...will paypal help?

Schadenfreude is alive and well!

Someone came into our office the other day and being the type who always has a joke, he was bursting to share his latest.

Sorry kids Father Christmas won't be coming this year. He put all the money to buy the toys in an Icelandic bank. The bank's gone bust, so he's got no money to buy the toys for you.

I didn't let on how near the knuckle that was!!
