I am very optimistic that my "Then and Now" video will be ready to roll by tomorrow, just in time to coincide with the first anniversary date of the bank's collapse. I want to emphasise that my video does not belong in the "Don't Bank on the Isle of Man" stable, as I think that message has now been heard loud and clear. Instead I'm directing mine at the one man who can make a difference - Gordon Brown. I'm delighted that, at the Labour Party Conference, he spouted the line about how he gets mad and is forced to act when he encounters unfairness!! My video will leave him in no doubt about the unfairness of our situation and challenges him to be a man of his word (a novel idea, I know!).

My question is....do I release my video through the DAG group or send it direct to the reporter who invited our stories?

IS THIS LADY LEGIT, OR ARE WE BEING LED UP THE GARDEN? Is someone checking if these people are who they say they are? Seems odd that suddenly journalists are interested in our story.

JUST CHECKED ON GOOGLE, THIS LADY IS LEGIT, SHE DOES PUBLISH IN THE TELEGRAPH

There has always been a trickle of incoming media enquiries. It's debatable as to how they should be handled now that the ksfiomdag site is on-line. Presumably some journalists will enquire there and others here. This is one of the reasons for my posting about descriptions needed - the Media Contact link shown at the bottom of the page on the public and chat sites probably needs to be changed to point to a page providing further information as to who journalists should contact and how.

Contacts made by journalists addressed to DAG should be directed, as they have always been in the past, to DST's media reps.

Consider the situation where a posting (perhaps a youtube video) made by a DAG member result in media interest. Furthermore suppose that DAG member is not a DST supporter - how should the situation be handled?

All PR issued by DST has always given a direct email address for response. So can we conclude that any incoming media enquiry here (e.g. the link at the bottom of this page) is unlikely to be as a direct result of DST PR? Probably.

I suggest that journalists (and everybody else) need to be given clear information as to who's who, hence my posting on that topic.

Hi, I found through my video that viewers jump on anything that looks or sounds like a wealthy background and through jealousy and spite will attack you viciously. No sympathy there then?

Thanks conned for the heads-up on what to expect - indeed I read the vicious posts in response to your videos and have leapt to your defence on many an occasion. I will be sure to polish up on my verbal parrying skills so I can fend them off!

That being said, my hope is that it will alert people as to how life can change - literally overnight - through the fraudulent actions of a third party (the Icelandic Wiseguys) and the inexcusable actions of Brown, Darling and the IoM authorities. Who knows, if enough people give a damn, they may even be roused into firing off an email on our behalf.....I live in hope!

I am ready, willing and able to tell my story to the Sunday Telegraph and will even go one step further - I'm going to show and tell! I've hired a videographer (using some of the money paid out by the Liquidator) to shoot a short film of my story. For the content, I'm going with my idea of "then and now". "Then" (pre-Kaupthieves) represents my life of retirement, after almost 40 years of hard work. "Now" (post-Kaupthieves) is my "existence" working long hours for lousy pay and no health insurance.

When I heard Gordon Brown's statement that no British saver had lost a penny, I was outraged. Should he be remotely interested in the truth (I know, I know, hardly likely looking at his track record!) as at today's date, I'm out of pocket to the tune of TWENTY SIX MILLION PENNIES!!!

I will welcome the opportunity to put the record straight and will post the video as soon as it's ready.

Brown will say that he meant "no saver in a British bank". Of course, many such savers were not British at all, although they may well be resident here, and indeed some must have been Icelandic and Manx!

Having said that, I have no hesitation in agreeing that Gordon Brown frequently utters terminological inexactitudes, to an extent that cannot possibly be excused by mere incompetence or inability to express himself. There is no doubt in my mind that this government is fundamentally dishonest and morally as well as fiscally bankrupt. The man Brown is a veritable disaster waiting to be removed from office.

Talking to the press

It is excellent that there seems to be more press interest/activity as our (not so happy) one year anniversary approaches. The DST is aware of the above request.

We do not wish to stop depositors talking directly to the press if they so wish but I would like to suggest using the following E/Mail address for expressing your interest or for passing to a member of the press if they contact you directly : -

MediaEnquiry(?)ksfiomdag [dot] com

The purpose of this is firstly in order that as a group we have a grasp on who in the media is reporting our case and to ensure that we can provide all the relevant and up to date facts to them. Secondly it is to filter out requests that purport to come from a benign source when this might not be the case. The DST is already aware of one such approach being made to a depositor.

Thanks.

Please can you explain how you 'filter out' benign requests from others and in what way can people telling their true stories be used against the DAG?

Hi bellyup

All that was meant is that it provides an opportunity to determine whether those who are contacting individuals do genuinely work for the organisations that they say they do. As I said, there has already been an instance where somebody has spoken to a depositor claiming to be from a specific media organisation when in fact they were not.

To repeat though, I have no desire or indeed authority to to tell depositors who they should or should not talk to, only to offer the advice above. For my part the more people that know our stories and the wider those stories are spread the better.
