Whilst we have lost, compared to some, a small amount it was our little nest egg. Gone overnight with KSF - why oh why didn't we buy that new car last month!! We have sent an e-mail to the Isle of Man FSC on 09/10/08 and we were not surprised when we received the generated 'out of office' reply and are awaiting with interest any reply we may receive. We fall within the level for compensation if we ever see it before we pass this mortal coil. We retired to Spain several years ago and my wife is an OAP and I am 18 months from reaching my OAP and whilst we were not reliant on any interest earned from this account to exist it has still left a big hole in any projections we can make for the future.

We feel that the Derbyshire Building Society have a moral obligation to their past customers who were transferred to KSF. Unfortunatly though as we have seen over the last few days the words bankers and morals do not go together.

Since this sorry affair our emotions have gone from suicidal to homicidal and have managed as yet not to make any threats of violence to any member of the banking community or 'send the boys' round to visit the directors of KSF (IOM) or Iceland for that matter this could change as it drags on. At the moment our 'Rage Indicator' is about 3.

On a completely different theme we can't help wondering how much 'Fred the Shred' is going to walk away with after nearly dragging the RBS into the gutter. (We used to bank with them too!)

Sorry - only just seen your reply. We are in fact no longer suicidal just p***ed orf as they say. However we are making vast inroads into the European wine lake. I can't afford the high blood pressure our private health insurance for next year have just rocketed - we are beginning to think this is personal.

Lord Charles

sorry to hear you plight in Spain
