These are the 4 questions we are proposing to submit to the TSC – yes we have gone for 4. Question 4 has been included specifically due to information received by the London team today, hence the sudden addition of a Q4.
Thank you all for all your suggestions. Below are also a few reasons why certain subjects were not mentioned, if after reading this you are still unclear/unhappy as to why your suggestion was not included please feel free to email me and I will do my best to explain.

• We did not include questions about funds in flight because that is a sub-section of our group and these questions are aimed at getting answers for all of us. In addition, we are only submitting 4 questions and there are numerous sub-sections of our group that would want representation (e.g. Bond holders).
• Specific questions about the £557m transfer to London have been excluded in favour of an overall question about the FSA’s role in IoM funds. This is because we are led to believe that any transfer of funds to the UK was NOT a one off occurrence…it was possibly a regular process. This fact would make any specific question easy to dismiss with “transfers to the UK from the IoM are a regular occurrence and not within the remit of the FSA”.
• Questions directly asking for our cash back or asking why the government hasn’t guaranteed our deposits like the rest of KSF have been excluded because (a) there is no cash in the bank and (b) the government will just say that the IoM is not within its jurisdiction and it is up to the FSC..etc..etc…
• Asking why the court papers were sealed will not bring us any closer to getting our funds back and it is also something we will find out in due course. Besides there is a possibility they will hide behind anti-terror legislation.

Here are the questions. Please COPY AND PASTE EACH QUESTION BELOW INTO A SEPARATE EMAIL and send them to the following address:

Dear Sirs

Please accept the following question for submission to the Treasury Select Committee on Monday 3 November 2008.

Will the FSA please detail the content and timing of discussions held between the FSA and the FSC in the Isle of Man pertaining to the movement of Kaupthing Isle of Man assets into Kaupthing UK as confirmed by the chairman of the FSC, John Aspden, last week.

As Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander UK was a solvent, liquid entity up until the week of October 6 (when the government commenced actions against the Icelandic banks), can the Chancellor please confirm that the UK government carries an obligation to ensure the return of ALL deposits within that bank including those of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Isle of Man totalling £555m.

Can the Chancellor explain why he did not consider the knock-on effects of the UK Government's actions for British depositors in Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Isle of Man and why no action was taken either beforehand or subsequently to protect these innocent victims of the banking crisis fallout?

Can the FSA confirm that neither it nor the UK government imposed any restrictive measures on Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander UK in the weeks or days before October 6 2008 that hindered it in its ability to operate as usual?

Yours faithfully

Having received the draft Qs by e-mail I was expecting to receive the final ones too. Many thanks to those who spent their time formulating the Qs in a way that will hopefully force out more information.

There seems to be an assumption that 48 hours before 3rd.November means two working days. If two working days was intended surely that is what they would have said??! 48 hours before a date means just that. So in my book we've got until midnight on 1st.November to send in emails so keep sending.

Do I take it has been suggested that HMG could have been taking covert action to prevent KSFUK from
trading as a bank (ie moving funds) in the days or weeks leading up to 8th Ocober and if so how? Surely this is dynamite!

For the time being, remember you are addressing an important committee of our betters, so be polite.

I am not disregarding the need to be polite in all correspondence as we will catch more flies with honey than vinegar, but I don't intend to start doffing my cap and saying "yus me laud" to members of a committee. Being polite and not sending and email full of spelling mistakes should be sufficient.
