The Manx Herald has today (21 Nov) published two articles entitled

"Letter to the Editor: KSFIOM two years on" and
"Bell unable to provide compelling argument for KSF (IOM) SOA to Tynwald Select Committee"

Comments can be added. This provides an excellent opportunity to put our views and our message across.

Now is the time to support our renewed call for the IOM authorities to sit down at the table with their UK counterparts and resolve this problem by 'standing in our shoes' - now.

Everyone can help, so don't just sit back and think someone else will do it.

The Manx Herald has now published all the remaining comments to date as part of a new article in support of our cause. You can read them all here:
http://www.manxherald.com/index.php/comment/653.html

If you have further comments I would suggest you add them here, where at least the first 10 should apear automatically in the regular Comments area.

A few of the previously non-visible comment to the editor's earlier article on the recent Select Committee hearing have now been included at the end of that article, here:
http://www.manxherald.com/index.php/business/652.html

Thanks Andrew for ensuring our voice is heard and for adding your's to them. Manx Herald has been a shining beacon in our defence throughout the dark days of the last two years. Would there were more like you willing to speak out on the island.

Don't think all comments have been posted as neither of mine have appeared. They weren't inflammatory or rude so I can't see why they would be excluded. I followed the process both times and it told me my comment had been accepted so maybe they went into the "black hole" like our money!

I have twice tried to post comments on the Manx Herald site but to no avail. Nothing happens when I press the submit button. Am I alone in encountering this problem?

Hi grandmaparis,

I don't understand why you have a problem. I was not aware this was part of the bug. Over 100 have managed. Are you sure you typed in the code correctly?

Maybe the editor has blocked comments on the Letter now that he has posted all those submitted as part of a new article (see my other post here). I suggest you try to add your comment there.

If you still have problems, you could email your comment to me and I will post it for you under whatever name you wish and giving your email address.

Hi Grandmaparis, The same happened to me but I then discovered that the letter can be sent off without problems if you type in the code numbers ┬┤before┬┤writing the letter.

Apparently unable for now to fix his software problem which - unbidden by him - limits the comments to 10, the Editor has reproduced the next 25 comments at the end of the Letter.

He adds:
"Editor's note: Further comments posted after 23rd Nov will appear as a new article."

It's a relief to know that they - and those to follow - are still there, somewhere in the system.

So keep a look-out for more!

I and my husband sent seperate comments to the Manx Herald - neither of which are showing in either article ---- they must be lost down a black hole .

BUT it is great to see so many comments appearing after the article...

I don't think your comments will be lost Julienne. The 'second article' he mentions has not yet appeared (the one about Bell & Shimmin's evidence to the Select Committee was already there before the editor's note was added to the Letter).

You will note that it says there are 96 comments - yet only 10 under "comments", plus about 25 now inserted at the end of the Letter itself (as the editor is currently unable to correct the software bug). So there must be at least a further 60 or so to appear with the promised "second article"! So keep checking back ...

Angela

Have added my comments to both Manx Herald articles. I also added a comment (unpublished) to the article on Expatmoney Channel.

http://www.expatmoneychannel.com/node/1507

And whilst I was on their site I filled in the survey for their campaign to allow expat British citizens to retain a bank account as it asks about experiences with offshore centres.

Sorry about delay in this posting, very busy these days, however, can I ask please that as many as possible support this initiative, I realise we've sort of been down this road before, but there might be a sea change in attitudes, as well as UK gov, that we can use. I am in touch with members of DST as well as PPDG and we are all co-operating with this initiative, I am scheduled to talk to the BBC again this week about this and hopefully get some exposure. Second time in a week, maybe there is a sea change.

I can think of reasons why this might work, I can think of reasons why it might not, the risk to IoM was always their reason for not going this road (a version of this this was first suggested in late October 2008), maybe now the sum involved and the known and potential returns might change that; conversly given the returns it might be the same old story of you're doing well enough! We'll see, but if this isn't pushed we'll never know.

So PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO SUPPORT THIS.
Thanks

Great post Ice!

I have posted a link to the article on the manxforums anyone wishing to add a comment there please go to

www.manxforums.com

local news, KSF Megathread 2

Be careful they are very touchy and polemic however there are 30000 +veiws to date and i have been told that IOM politicans do read these forums and it is in top spot at the moment.

Well the heat obviously got too much for the manxforums.
the thread attracted huge amounts of views ( 31733) and is the second thread
They wiped the first one after 100 pages
Now the KSFmegathread has been locked.
It seems that someone wants KSFdepositors wiped from the pages of time.

Thanks to Bellyup for pushing our cause so eloquently on manxforums for so long in such a hostile environment. Your last message on the costs of the doomed SOA to the IOM Govt and the KSFIOM depositors had them rushing to close the thread. Clearly this is something they want to hide.
Today, you can still read Bellyup's efforts on the forum but can't post.

From his recent speech and select commitee appearance Mr Bell has already wiped us from his memory. I'm sure there are others in IOMG and their supporting cast that would like to think or pretend KSFIOM (and their preceding financial related incidents) never happened. It will be interesting to hear how good Mr Aspden''s memory is later this week. I remember he thought that some banks should be allowed to fail - so apparently from his perspective it is ok for the IOM tax payer (I am not one) to shell out , via their inadequate DCS, for those failures and any failures on his part to stop them occuring in the first place.

Thanks Blades. Below is a copy of a post I have just made on the other site.

Can we get everyone behind this - now? It could act as a sort of petition.

As posted on KSFIOMDAG site:

Thanks to those (disappointingly few!) who have already posted excellent comments to our Letter to the Editor.

We need to keep them coming. You don't need to write an epistle, as those who have commented show.

Maybe you think there's no point in commenting because Manx Herald is a minority, on-line only publication, known to be critical of IOMG, supportive of our cause and not well liked by the 'establishment'. But if we can get lots of expressed support here, we can work on it. Failing your support, it's easy to see that the authorities will be able to turn the apparent lack of support to their advantage and claim that most depositors are quite satisfied as things are, so why do anything else.

So, if you really want us to continue fighting for 100% for all depositors now, then you must help.

This is our fight - DAG needs YOUR support - now! Is that too much to ask?

The link is here: www.manxherald.com/index.php/comment/651.html

Why not do it TODAY? And please, no rants or abuse and go easy on the 'Don't bank on the Isle of Man' stuff for now. It's unlikely to be helpful right now; we need serious support for the 'stand-in-our-shoes' plan.

Thanks again Ice for another written jewel and Anrigaut a big thanks for all your continued fighting, writing, PR, press releases and constant work on behalf of the DAG - let's hope we are getting somewhere this time with the Government loan (a proposal put forward by Icecrusher many times in the early days to Allan Bell himself), but let us hope we can rely on 2 new Governments to be fair and deliver now.

I did write a comment to add to yours in the Manx Herald article - I noticed today 60 comments have been added but how to read them? I cannot see past your first 10 comments from yesterday. How to view them? I've tried to click on everything registered with the Paper etc.

I would love to see all 60 comments and see whether mine has been accepted or edited out (maybe it was not diplomatic enough and I will edit).
Everyone keep writing and support DAG at this important moment - a threshold (we hope) to a new beginning and end to our trauma.

Hi fight theft,

Yes - I am painfully aware of the apparent backlog of comments on the Manx Herald (since around 5 pm yesterday) and have emailed Andrew Jessop twice to ask about it - but no response as yet. As you might imagine, I too would love to see these comments. I'm reassured however by you saying you posted one - was beginning to wonder if their counter had gone beserk!

I cannot imagine they were all undiplomatic - and Manx Herald is not exactly a diplomatic paper! I can only assume that either there is a technical problem which prevents more than 10 comments being shown or - more likely - Andrew is simply busy and has not got around to moderating them - he's going to have a job on his hands when he gets around to it.

Anyway, as you say, keep writing and fingers crossed.

Thanks jetski - and all who have commented.

It is clearly a bug of some sort. The editor was off-island all day yesterday and due back late last night. So hopefully it will be fixed today. Then all those comments (89 so far, it says) should appear. Fingers crossed.

Update:

Just received from the editor (who was away off-island until now):

"I have only just got back and I will see what I can do to publish further comments later today. Unfortunately the software is limiting comments to 10 and we do not know why. Andrew"

Fingers crossed that he can find a way around this problem - and rapidly!

Thanks Cottesmore.

Indeed, I think there must be a technical problem after a certain number of posts. I have tried to reach Andrew Jessop (editor) by email and by phone - but he is unjoinable today. I thought this might explain why your comments are not appearing - that he was absent and unable to moderate. But I just added a comment to his article and that appeared so fast that I doubt anyone would have had time to read it. That makes 10 comments there now, so maybe that will now be blocked too!

It's all very frustrating, but nothing we can do until he returns. I'm sure all the comments are there, somewhere.

I posted comments on both Manx Herald threads : on KSFIOM 2 years on, and on the Tynwald Select Committee hearings.
I notice also that my comments on KSFIOM 2 years on have not appeared while the other comments have.
Never mind. It is very encouraging that 61 comments on KSFIOM 2 years on have been submitted!!
