Today was a good day for us as we finally started to see some of our efforts with the press paying off.

The London team changed tactics by sending out two ‘bite-size’ messages to our press distribution list rather than the more ‘chunky’ press releases (one at 9am and one at 3pm, both strongly worded messages asking questions of the UK government’s behaviour). This had an almost immediate effect with requests for more information/interviews from The Times Legal editor and Money Marketing (a financial services industry publication). Money Marketing went on to publish an article online this afternoon and The Times is expected to run an article tomorrow.

As the day progressed our message was picked up by more publications and The Irish Independent and the Telegraph both published online pieces quoting from our emails.
Further interviews have now been given to Citywire (thanks to all of you who contributed to this story) and the Sun has come to us asking for more information.

Our campaign to blitz the inboxes of MPs went well from a numbers point of view but it seems that they’re not prepared to take up our cause unless we live in their constituency. So, if you haven’t emailed your local MP yet…GET ON WITH IT!

The team have been trying, over the past few days, to get access to the administrators of Kaupthing UK. Unfortunately they have no legal obligation to talk to us and, continuing the theme of silence from the UK, we have been unsuccessful in getting a meeting – we will persist!

The assistant to the Treasury Select Committee confirmed to us that the big day is to be 3 November at 4pm. I suggest as many of us as possible try to get in although if you live a distance away you are advised that entry is limited so you may have a wasted journey. If you do plan to travel, come early as apparently there will be a large queue!

Lastly, a bald man with a dodgy name (me) got on to Channel 4 news tonight. For anyone interested, yes it was petrifying. I think it went ok…all publicity is good publicity and I think we’ve got the select committee to admit they have to ask questions about us when they convene. In addition it was good to see we got good exposure and a high billing so let’s see where we go from here.

The London team will continue the press onslaught tomorrow and we will keep you all updated as and when we have anything to report back.

Thanks for all your efforts, please look out for other announcements as we will have more requests for help in the coming 24 hrs and more bite size messages to be sent to MPs etc..

Many thanks Diver, to you and your team.

Great end of day summary for us all abroad with uptodate of your efforts at the sharp end.

Can you post the two press releases of 0900 & 1500 today please? Have not seen them anywhere yet.

Took me 1/2hr to watch 7min 20sec clip of Ch4 News.
I must say the 'smooth' guy with the dodgy name looked far from pertified to me......
Indeed, quite a 'polished' performace in my opinion :-)

You have my thanks and respect.

PS: Seems John McFall still thinks we are 'investors' in IOM - can you please correct him next time you chat!

Thank you diver

Help us stop abuse of the Anti-terrorism Act????
Gordon Brown unjustifiably used the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act of 2001 against the people of Iceland for his own short-term political gain. This has turned a grave situation into a national disaster, affecting families in both Iceland and the United Kingdom. Help us avert greater damage by signing this petition now.
This has been a Political Trick by Gordon Brown to Steal Our Money....

I think he knows the doo-doo he is in using this law in the first place.
Let's get our money back first before we look for retribution.
The goal has to be return of the deposits, by all means necessary, but without erring from the track.

We've had comments from some press contacts (step forward Citywire) that they're getting a bit annoyed at the amount of emails they're receiving from all of us. So............well done! Keep it up!!!!!! We plan to be the biggest pain in the rear end this side of Gordon Brown...thanks guys!

Diver - you guys are doing such a good job for us over there, we appreciate it more than you can imagine.
I could not find the video on the C4 website - maybe because of my wobbly internet connection here in Spain - but at least there is a transcript of the report part of the programme.
I am doing what I can in terms of keeping the local press informed - and the English language newspaper is owned by a larger, Spanish group so I hope the information will spread - as well as keeping up the flow of e-mails and letters. We all need to keep on with this if success is going to come our way.

Diver was fantastic last night.

Big day in Isle of Man today. Best of luck to the team over there and fingers crossed for a positive outcome (if a postponement can be considered positive !)
