I emailled Jonathan Smalley earlier today and asked him 'why' he was so interested in our cause especially as he was not a depositor, and through his blogs members might think he was potentially 'advertising', his response is below, so that you can make up your own minds

I am not a depositor.

I have practised in the Isle of Man for over 25 years and owe the Island
a great deal.

I am posting material so that depositors have a clear and concise
summary of what the procedure is in the Isle of Man. I am trying to do
this so it is forward looking and enables people to decide what to do
and what is best for them. The main problem most ordinary people have is lack of information and I am trying to fill that information gap.

My feeling is that people want it and if this information is seen as
coming in a timely way from the Isle of Man, folk will see that there
are some really good people here. It is actually making me feel pretty
good that I am helping people - I am getting a lot of positive feedback
though I also realise that I have a number of detractors on the KSF

Does that help?

I am not acting for anyone in this matter. Until very recently I was
conflicted as I was considering making a bid for Kaupthing's loan book.
I am not going ahead with a bid at this stage.

Kind regards,

Jonathan Smalley

Thank you Mr. Smalley. Factual information has been essential in staying level headed at times when the spectre of our loss is so overwhelming that it threatens all clear thinking. And there is no question of dismissing all those on Isle of Man as Machiavellian schemers. The Isle of Man is no different to anywhere else , people are people no matter where they live , good, bad, and everything in between .........

Jonathan Smalley is by far the best source of information, about what is really going on, on the IOM, that we currently have.

I sent a 'thank you' to Jonathan Smalley yesterday and received a personal reply from him almost immediately. This is in stark contrast to my letters to Simpson! I'm convinced that Mr Smalley has no hidden agenda and that he is doing his best to keep us all informed and pro bono at that!!

Bid away!

Hey don't be shy, be compromised and bid.
How about £450M??

Seriously, you breifings have been very useful.
It makes me realise that maybe there are reasonable people in the IoM (as well as the ksf depositors of course)
Thank you.

Thanks Mr. Smalley

I would also like to thank Mr. Smalley, his input is very valuable. When you have lost nearly all your savings (100K in my case) sometimes it is hard to be level headed. Having a few good hearted straight talking non depositors on the forum helps.
