There are a few of us working hard to get a viral campaign off the ground to get some media attention, piss off the IOM/HMG and maybe help to get our money back. I thought this was what everyone wanted but I can't believe the apathy on the site.

There are quite a few members who are happy to spend hours debating points on the site about things that can't be changed. Why not use some of that energy to open a twitter account and a youtube account and help us to help YOU.

It is very simple to open both twitter and youtube accounts.

Once your youtube a/c is open you can comment on and rate the various videos that are being uploaded. We need lots of 5* ratings. If you can do a video rating this is a lot better. The more 5* ratings we get the more people will look at our video and share it with their friends. You can also share it with everyone that you have email addresses for - remember every person you send it to is potentially someone who will send it onwards and so the visibility increases.

When you open your twitter account, follow LorraineTerry and post your twitter username on here so that everyone can follow you.

There are a few people in DAG who are doing a lot of work to make things happen but the vast majority of us are doing nothing but slagging them off. This is EVERYONE'S chance to really do something. There is nothing to lose and a lot to gain. BUT....

THIS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DON"T MAKE IT WORK.

I will never forget what someone said to me in october when i told them what happened if that happened to me with my life savings i would be livid. be livid,be angry, fight on ,fight back.... we are not to be stepped on.

make a video..., make a twitter account and tell our story, write today to newspapers, write even if you dont get a reply...its better than doing nothing.

If you think it would help, I'd be prepared to send out one mass-email (forced email, no opt out, arguably spam) to try to raise awareness among DAG members to try to gain support for for the viral projects. If you think that would help, please write the content of the message for me. Try to keep it short, and link to posts on the site rather than copy them into the message. I would suggest that the overall objective be to get people to join a group here on the site, probably the Protest/viral group (which could be renamed to have wider scope, or you could use a new group). Once people are joined to such a group, you have the advantage of being able to see the member list, set out announcements/requests via email, and communicate within the group without hassling nor being hassled by other DAG members who are not members of that group. In case I've still not managed to make it clear, the use of groups on the site is not about segregation, it's to facilitate focus and teamwork among like-minded people.

a couple of questions for DAG HNW

Ng, here's the start of a contribution to go out to DAG and HNW.

Given that some/many of us who are over 50000 depositors have given our proxy vote to the creditors representation, what advantages are there to the cause of 100% return of our money, to staying with liquidation, rather than applying late for the DCS?

If you can see that there are advantages, then how can we consolidate as a group over this, and begin working together with more communication and more transparency from you?

You will know more than us what is the state of play. At the present time, we're groping in the dark. When there were so many of us, and the 'virtual' nature of this forum, we could not consider ourselves a group. Presumably the numbers will now have fallen dramatically. This could be a chance to change the strategy.

Lorraine is right, I am very disappointed in the lack of involvment of most of you. If you were all tapping into youtube and twitter there would be thousands of hits on the video but there are 281. If many of you made comments and sent the URL onto your address book or at least your, friends it would be all round the world by now. It beats me that many of you are happy to see your thousands of pounds swoop into other peoples pockets without even a whimper. Get youtubing and twittering now.

Sorry Lorraine and Conned but I fail to see how 'pissing off the IoMG and HMG', as you put it, helps to get our money back. If anything, it has just the opposite effect.
I don't feel the need to tell people how i feel and wouldn't regard it as standing up for myself.

I have every sympathy for samburob's comments but have to say the condescending comments from some contributors in here (I have to say conned in particular) I find especially grating.

After some 9 months of coming to terms with a wholly life-changing,devastating impact on our future, my wife and I have managed to control our anger into constructive lobbying of people who we feel can influence our future, i.e our MP (Dr Liam Fox) and especially Aviva International who got us into this mess to begin with!

The fact that we dont share every last act in this forum does not mean we are any less active in pursuing a common goal, personally I find suggestions such as producing amaterish bumper stickers and you tube videos of zero value (that is unless we can rival the 3M hits on the recent and by now famous United Airlines YouTube production).

In short, ease off guys (again, conned in particular) we all still hurt but react in different ways.

As you havent seen any of the ideas for bumper stickers you dont know if they are amateurish or not ( they probably are but we are amateurs and the professional PR people did absolutely zilch as far as I can make out.)

I would be very grateful for your constructive suggestions or ideas.

And will be happy to send you what I have done to date

Actually I and many of us have written endlessly to our MPS ( including Dr Fox) and where exactly has it got us to date?

Have we got anything positive at all from our all our constructive lobbying of MPS?

My idea is simply to raise awareness of Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander especially around the City of London .

Most people have no idea even what KSF or the issue is they think it has all been settled.

I dont want us to be forgotten or buried.

All we get is sympathy thats it, you have to embarass them and tell the world what happened to us,This whole thing is one word a massive injustice and it needs to be blasted around the world . All those govt, yes they probably have the standard sympathy letter ready for reply for us,. Automatic.. The way to go is actively campaign and raise awareness.. it will take time and its hard but it will certainly get the results in the end when people with even half a brain will know to run away from the place we deposited and trusted our life savings with....
. I dont see any of them helping us do you? the bond companies are very quiet while they have the nerve to carry on charging us bondcharges in our Grief. This indeed has ruined many peoples lives, shame on them...

Fair reply and criticism from bellyup, who is quite correct I should not have made an un-fair comment against the bumper stickers which I have not seen. My point was two-fold, that the regular postings by "conned" indicate that if people's efforts are not displayed on this site the suggestion is that they are doing nothing! My main problem in the bumper sticker idea is that the kind of numbers we would need displayed to be meaningful would surely have to run into millions! By way of an example (and this reference should NOT imply that I have sympathy with their cause for one moment) but for as long as I can remember, certainly upwards of 10 years, the same group of protestors have literaly camped out in Westminster, to my knolwedge they have achieved nothing and my fear is that our numbers are so small we would get the same result. However, in the final analysis, we should all do what we feel we should do. In my opinion however that does not give "conned" the right to criticise people who he/she has no means of knowing what we might be doing to come to terms with this tragedy and attempto to make some form of recovery.

By heightening our profile more and more people become aware of us and hopeully ask questions, talk about it etc. The IOM have, in my opinion, so far got away with their behaviour which is at odds with the way other financial centres have dealt with similar problems simply because no one has stopped them. We have tried all sorts of methods but the only people who have followed this story are people with a vested interest. The only possibility we have to alter this is to make as much noise as we can and, by being amusing or whatever, get the attention and sympathy of the public. Only by getting lots of attention can we possibly embarrass these people into speeding up and improving the return of funds.

Do you think it's acceptable that the HMG have now stated that the FSCS will pay out within SEVEN DAYS of a liquidation whilst allowing the IOM to forestall a liquidation and then drag out the DCS for months? No, I'm sure you don't so we have to make sure that as many people as possible know about this and object to it.

It might not work but that isn't a reason not to try. What other options do we have?

I stand to lose well over 100k here not 100 pounds. You are right I have sat back too long and watched things unfold but now is the time to "turn on the pressure" and get those idiots off their collective butts and resolve our situation. I am fed up with the "waffling" and obscure replies from PWC and co. I want "straight answers" and "straight talk" and I want them now!
DAG are doing a great job behind the scenes and I appreciate their efforts on behalf of us who are too distant to do anything tangible. If I ever get back to the "old" country any time soon I'll certainly make contact with any of the members I can and express my thanks in person.

Well done for registering on Twitter. I do agree that Twitter is, on a personal level, a boring waste of time, but for our purpose it's truly brilliant.

Go to buzzom.com and put in your username. It will give you the opportunity to grow your list by adding random people. If you spend 30mins at the keyboard you can add around 500. Over the next few days several of these will follow you back and you can pump them with messages (avoid just talking about kaupthing, the idea is to make your profile sound interesting so that people want to follow you.

You can keep increasing your list in this way and each week or so unfollow anyone who isn't following you so that you can bring in more new names.

After a month of this you should have a few thousand followers - these will mostly be different to the ones that are following me or conned or ........... Therefore if 20 of us build lists for a month we should have at least 30000 unique names between us and all of these people have followers who will see what we post. If 500 members were to do this just imagine how many people would see our profile.

Things to remember:
in your bio use the words Kaupthing, Bank, Depositor, DAG etc.
Have the DAG public site as your website address
post regular messages which point people to the site and the youtube videos and the petition once we have it online.

Well I have registered on u-tube and sent the videos - both - to as many contacts as I felt would either pass on or be personally interested -- Well done for making it - do another and I'll annoy my contacts again.

HOWEVER - I registered on Twitter - and I am afraid I have to say that I don't think this is a media platform that will improve our image or spread the word. Following each other is something we already do here and it seems way too complicated for many of our members to follow or benefit from-- (no disrespect intended) - you seem to have to be pretty IT savey to get it up and running.

I did find CNN on there and followed them as a news channel - you never know - they may read the web link I posted.

The idea is good I think we need something more peoples faces!!

Only my opinion but I can see why not many people have registered.

Its called awareness of our cause, all this takes time to take off but its certainly better than doing nothing beleive me. We will fight for justice no matter how hard it looks, look at films like Erin brokovitch, probably spelt it wrong, we have to be persistent. If it does come to nothing than at least we tried, we didnt sit back and just become victims of three self serving govts and a power crazy duo mainly the one in no 11. We have 5yrs of this , no one really has been made accountable for our much reduced cirucmstances, how would they like it?. I cant plan anything nice for myself until I see when and what mike simpson has in mind to pay me from my own money, its DISGUSTING . How can we keep quiet about that...

No one in their right mind would set themselves up to be lampooned and insulted by the whole world as I have. So, even if you don't agree with my approach, at least give me credit for trying and if you can find it in your hearts not to criticise my efforts, that would be good too.
