This is a serious post as I was thinking of ways to try and help the group or each other which don't involve a ££ donation (Because I'm skint now).

I teach in Kazakhstan and as such my accommodation is provided for. I'm lucky in that respect. I have a holiday home in Central France which is co-owned with my Brother. It is empty for most of the year and is unlikely to be used for the next 6 months. If your circumstances are so desperate that you need a roof over your head then it could be made available. It's not a palace but it is functional. Zero internet connection though I'm afraid!

You can let me know by private message if you need to.

Regards,

SG

This message goes out to anyone who believes they will soon be made homeless as a result of the situation we find ourselves in now.

If you're happy to talk to a journalist, have access to a phone and don't mind calling the UK (if you're abroad) please contact me STRAIGHT AWAY.

Home is paid for but ....

After 20 years working my butt off all over the world in Oil n Gas Industry I will see my dream of having my own consultancy company in SE Asia disappear from under my feet for no fault of my own

In order to make up my losses I will have to go back to Middle East and the Stans for months on a time for another ten years after I promised my family that I would be home every weekend

Homeless No, Screwed up life Yes!

Thank you sg for your kind offer, I'm one of the one's who will become homeless as will need to return to UK - I do have a property in France unfortunately not habitable a non started conversion / renovation project and as everything was / is in KSFIoM therefore no money / no income / no employment. Hence my only option will have to return to UK to claim benefits if things drag out and / or we're just looking at £50K max paid over a number of years, still under pension age. Problem being it's only when I return to UK that I'm homeless - France does not have a reciprocal social payment as in UK where any EU resident can claim benefits - I was aware of all this before I left UK but didn't think that it would become an issue.

Selling the property if needed to raise finance will be difficult - rural properties don't appeal to the French, so would probably need to be marketed in the UK - and there's very little money floating around here - hence wouldn't be hopeful of a quick sale.

Could you move it to Oz. Our rent is due on Sat; reckon we'll get a couple of week's grace then out on our ear.... Not entirely sure what will happen next.

Reckon it could be a visit to the Brit consulate to get a load for the flight back to the UK and then a few weeks on the Social (never been on that before!!!) while i get a job sorted. :-(

How generous of you! I think your kind offer would only help someone already resident in France.
However, if any member living in France were to become homeless as a consequence of losing a deposit in KSF I am sure they would be eligible for social housing.

Yep! I applied immediately on the 9th Oct. As I was using the interest to pay my rent.
Fortunately the application was immediately accepted.

Richardson
you will get the same support as long as you don't have over £16000 in savings, which i gather that like me you probably don't anymore.
They make a substantial contribution according to your income.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow for all of us. I am starting to feel more pressure today, like coming to the finishing line.
