How to vote in the UK as an Expat

It appears almost impossible to be able to vote in any elections as an Expat. Apparently my only option is to register as a postal vote and they will send out ballots 1 week before the elections. The problem is that it takes a week for mail to get to me from the UK. I also cant get family to vote for me as I lived in a different area to my family before I left England. I know the country seems to be going downhill, but I still have pension there and would like some say on what goes on.

Speak to the office of your local MP in UK - or whoever was your local MP before you became an Expat.
Choose the MP you wish to vote for!
I had emailed my local MP with reference to KSIOM, and when the elections were due received an email
suggesting that I might like to vote and that I could do this using the address of one of their supporters
since I had no family in the area either.
I can't remember the detail now - it was too long ago, but that's what we did and it was fine.
