So we can get a better idea of how much money in involved, please state how much you had with Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander when they collapsed. This is give us (and any interested authorities) an idea of how much we are talking about.

It does not have to be an exact figure, but as near as you are willing to state online. Perhaps best not to state the exact true amount for security reasons.

We're fortunate that we moved £14.5k in April after reading an article about "how safe is your bank." Our loss is chicken feed compared to most of you other unfortunate people. You're in our thoughts. Just hang in there because if we make enough noise to UK politicians, they'll be galvanised into helping us. I've emailed Tory leader David Cameron imploring him to speak out on our behalf. Those of you who wish to do the same should email him at camerond(?)parliament [dot] uk

£30,000, deposited into the Edge one year fixed term last month, in an effort "to spread our risk". A significant part of our retirement savings.

Was this in the Isle of Man?

Klauseriksen. In response to your question, the Kaupthing Edge account was also on Isle of Man. I'm not resident in the UK and I wasn't able to open a UK-based account.

I didnt realise this bank was operating so seperatley, the contact details for the bank use a UK phone number . I'm surprised the IOM didnt suggest I use the mainland bank as I live and work in the UK until very recently

Hi, me and my wife are expats, we live in Spain. We first started banking with the Derbyshire IoM in 1993 in the tail end of 2007 we started receiving letters telling us they where selling out to KSF IoM. We had complete trust in the Derbyshire. Surely they must have had some inkling that all was not what it seems with KSF, or did they just take the money and run. We have/had all our life savings tied up in IoM and rely on the interest for day to day living.

I know we are all feeling sorry for ourselves here , and I'm prepared to be flamed , but lets be honest shall we why we invested in this account ? , it was to avoid UK tax , that was a risk WE made together , Granted a few od us HAVE to bank abroad (ex Pats) but the majority of us wanted something for nothing , my low rate , low yield boring accounts with UK accounts are all fully insured through the government , I can't believe the people on here who invested 200K in a high risk but high yield account and then cried fowl when it all went bad , my stocks have taken a beating this year also but thats the risk I chose when investing , you win some you lose some

We deposited in a BANK
NOT shares
NOT on a horse

Most of us having saved with the Derbyshire BS for years
What do you know a 'few of us ' have to bank abroad.

What do you know Ms Smarty pants about people working in arduous jobs abroad ?

Please whoever is running this site get rid of this nauseating post.
