HOW THE IoM TEAM AND LONDON TEAM WORK - INFO FOR YOU ALL

For the sake of clarity I’m going to set out how we are working to get the best results for all of us. This is aimed at giving everyone on this site a working knowledge of how we do things.

There are two main teams at work, the Isle of Man team led by Expat and the London Team that is coordinated by me.

The first thing you need to know is that the two teams talk on a daily basis (sometimes more often as the need arises) and we discuss what we have been doing and what our immediate aims and goals are. The aims for both teams are often different as they usually revolve around our physical locations, e.g. the IoM team will be looking to meet with/get more info on the FSC whilst the London team will be looking to get meetings with specific journalists or to talk to specific MPs who have shown interest in our situation.

Our aims and goals change depending on the information we are given by those we are in touch with. As we gather information from sources we find every day, we try to piece everything together to get a better understanding of what went on and who did what. Some of these sources don’t want us to say anything to anyone and so we have to be careful how we filter information out to you guys and to the press…but we do use the info we get.

As a rule the IoM team does the digging in situ, trying to find out what roles were played and by whom and they feed this info to the London team who then use this in all media exercises (where appropriate). This team’s primary role has moved from being a target that we could point the media at (hence the great TV coverage) to that of expert information gatherers from all sources on the IoM – where do you think we get a lot of our info from?

The London team is heavily focused on the press, media and MPs.
I personally speak to and brief between 10-15 journalists a day and answer all the email queries that we get from the press releases that we send. On days like yesterday, we’ll be in touch with the MPs who put their heads above the parapet to support our cause – take Austin Mitchell as an example. The guys like Teapot and Sleepless are endlessly contacting our media contacts trying to keep our story alive and forever editing my stuff that I send their way to make sure we’re not saying anything stupid – no idea what I’d do without those two!

The results of all this is what you see coming out in the press on a near daily basis…we’re the ones feeding them their info. Tonight, for example, I had contact with the editor of the Money section of the Sunday Times and as a result she should be profiling one of our fellow depositors this weekend and highlighting our situation in detail.

The email requests we get are usually asking for information from different angles depending on the demographics that read that paper or watch that programme so they all have to be tailored – I’d love to have a standard email to send out but such a thing wouldn’t work…this all takes a lot of time. We also use the contacts we’ve made to elicit information that is not yet in the public domain and then, if appropriate, we make sure the info gets to the right people championing our cause.

On top of all this we do our best to answer the tons of emails and phone calls from you guys to explain what is going on as well as organising things like the TSC questions, doing searches for solicitors to represent us at hearings and sorting out banking for any funds we have to request in. And lastly we answer things on the website when we can.

So that’s pretty much what we do.

Now, if anyone wishes to ask us about anything else we do please feel free to email me at anytime…I mean that. But, the above has another purpose as well. The purpose is to demonstrate that like it or not, this isn’t a democracy and this isn’t the civil service. We don’t have time to vote on issues and we don’t have the time or the need for committees, steering groups or any other type of quangos. We don’t need to have regular ‘update’ meetings, as we talk to each other all the time and, although we will update you as often as possible (e.g. London Team updates), we also don’t have the time to write a daily update of what we’ve been up to.

There comes a point where you’ll have to trust us that we’re working for all on here and when there is something to report or something we’d like all your help with we’ll post it on the site.

Right, I’m now off to write the email that will be going to all the press in the morning aimed at getting our TSC story into the weekend newspapers. I hope the above helps..if just a little bit.

We would just like to thank Diver, Teapot and Sleepless for their tireless efforts in the work they do for the good of us all.
Thank you so much you guys , we really do appreciate everything you are doing and the endless time you must be giving to this terrible situation.

Let's all be positive and hope we will get it resolved very soon.

As someone who has not been able to be heavily involved, beyond sending emails and letters, I am truly appreciative that we have you in the IOM and LONDON to work so hard and with so much determination and dedication for all the depositors. If there is anything helpful that you want us to do, please let us know. Many many thanks.

Thank you, and thank you to all of you out there. Once this is over we will toast you all; to the best fighting group ever. Salud.

Diver I'm sorry to see your message today, you have been an inspiration and a source of strength. I remain confident in the skills and commitment of everyone else working on this. Thank you to all. This website has been a lifeline.

Its very obvious that a lot of cash has been expended on behalf of everyone. Please let us know how we can contribute financially to the costs. It's very easy to call the Sefton hotel in Douglas, 01624 645500, and make a contribution to the expenses being clocked up there. Is there a similar way we can send cash to others?

There is to be a confidential meeting on thursday by iom ministers. David Cannan has refused to attend because it is of national importance. Clair Christian is an MHK who has disclosed an interest as she is a depositor. I wonder if she will excuse herself. Expat Do you know anything about this. Good or bad news

D Cannan has refused to attend I believe beacause he may receive information which prevents him from asking pertinent questions in a later Tynwald. He maintains that the potential loss of £10 plus million of tax payers money deposited aswell as manx depositors money is of national importance.

I am sure secret meetings do go on to sort out this situation but I don't think this can be one of them.

1) Its not secret, its on this website

2) David Cannan is not a minister so would not be at a meeting of ministers anyway.

3) The chief minister is in London on Thursday meeting Jack Straw. I doubt they would have such an important meeting without the Chief minister.

3 Maybe he will fly back for the meeting or it might be on Friday.

Be assured there is a meeting for MHKs and MLCs no press and no public

From today I will be taking a back seat in the on going saga that is our crisis and leaving the day to day strategy & communications to our team in the Isle of Man. It is important that the group as a whole has a focal point from which it receives direction and information and I believe the IoM team are in the best position to deliver this.

I have asked that the IoM team lets you all know who they all are, that they communicate their efforts to everyone and make themselves available to the depositors who wish to clarify issues with them. It is important that we support their on going efforts to achieve a solution for all of us just as it will be important that we are all kept up to speed with progress and developments. I am sure we're in good hands.

Unfortuantely I will no longer be in a position to answer all your email queries and attend to your suggestions but I am sure the IoM team will be more than happy to take this on. I intend to rejoin the rest of you in supporting (where appropriate) those leading our efforts and to hope for a speedy end to this horrible situation.

Thanks very much for all your support and often overly generous comments over the past weeks (I always did say I had as many selfish reasons for my actions as altruistic ones), they really helped. Most importantly, thank you to everybody who backed our efforts with the press and the MPs...your hard work in those areas alone shows just how much difference we can make together. Now let's get our money back.

Thank you Diver for your lucidity, patience, sharp focus and harnessing the energy of so many disparate and stray people ,that we are now within sight of our goal : retrieving our full deposits.

With the rest of the team you have kept hope alive as we all muddled along in various emotionally charged states, from confusion and disbelief to blind panic.

You have more than earned your time out : surround yourself with the love of your family, get some fresh air, go for some long walks, eat healthily and sleep . And in the words of Woody Allen :" Human beings are divided into mind and body: the mind embraces all the nobler aspirations like poetry and philosophy , but the body has all the fun ....." Go have some Fun! !

We all send you our support and look forward to hearing from you again, not least when we are all celebrating the success we set out to achieve !

Given that the current direction appears to be softly, softly and hold off calling on the cavalry (read Legal route). Then, if or when we do deicide it appropriate to call on the cavalry, can I assume that the horses and riders are fed, watered and ready for action?

Would this be correct – or de we need to start from scratch - as that would have been a real waste.....

I hope that we, your fledglings/cats, have not added to your own stress and strain. Times are hard for us all without 'carrying' extra baggage. I sincerely hope that we have not added to your burden. Same message also to our other leaders who are so important to us all, (those of us that need steering).

I take comfort from your stepping back, as meaning that you are sat in the cheap seats with the majority now. (As opposed to leaving)

Thanks again.

I am very sorry to hear that you have now reached the point at which you feel it is necessary to take a back seat. You have worked tirelessly and selflessly on behalf of us all and a lot of what has been achieved thus far is in no small part down to you. I am sure you have not taken your decision lightly, and we must respect that, but please continue to give us your support, we cannot afford to lose an excellent man.

We must unite behind the IOM team until we hopefully achieve what we are all striving for, justice, fair play and the ownership of what is rightfully ours.

Hope to hear from you again very soon Diver. All the very best.

Thanks for everything you have done to-date. In the midst of chaos you usually brought me clarity with your postings of what was going on and how to proceed from that point. You usually gave me a huge boost to send another 30 e-mails to MPs and to just keep on going.

You will be sadly missed in that capacity.

I know what a strain it has taken on my life - & I have been lucky enough to be able to suspend my "personal business" dealings to concenrate on paying myself a lot of dosh to get my own money back. So it must be huge to carry the weight of 2000 people and try to ratain your own private life and sanity.

I hope you will continue in the background posting your aspect on the situation as it unfolds in the coming weeks.

I am with those guys below who want to buy you a glass of whatever your favourite poison is - when this is satisfactorily over.
So lets get our money back so we can get on with the serious business of drinking !!

You have been an inspiration to us over the last five weeks and have put so many positive actions into place. With Teapot and Sleepless you have worked wonders and have given our groups plight such a high profile in the press and T.V.

We all understand, that you also have your own financial loss to contend with and the stress that it brings, however we hope that after a short break you will find the energy to give us the benefit of your undoubted business skills once more.

We all thank you for the many hours you have devoted to our cause and let us now give our full support to the IOM team.

Looking forward to seeing Diver on line again soon.

I am a smaller depositor (GBP10,000) and resident in the US and am very grateful that there are those who are taking the time and effort to resolve this unfortunate mess. For me the problem has simply been to find a way to receive my two small UK pensions (teachers and OAP) which total around GBP 300 per month which were previously paid into KSFIOM. In fact they are now going to be wired to me in the US on a quarterly basis.

Well I will miss you more than many driver, your ability to get at the politicians has been awesome to be honest. But I like otheres here understand only to well the emotional toll this is taking, to carry ones own family is difficult, to carry the hopes of many is draining. Keep in touch driver, because I will with you.

The IOM team is Ally and accountant, Dave bradden a business man, Bblair as you have seen is also involved and very experienced in finance. Between us we have over £3m in this. There are others supporting us from all over the world as it happens, we don't act alone as some think. We have access at this end to privelged info at times, hence the cloak and dagger which we don't like either, but needs must. We want the money, how we get it, which route we follow depends on the info we have at any one tme. As long as we get it.

Patience and determination are what we need, to quote a phrase used recently there is no place for emotion in banking. We try to be like that.

For your info today I have asked Alan Bell through his secretary if a way can be found to realease some money to help thiose most suffering, I await events on that.
Is their light at the end of the tunnel that's not a train coming at us, a group representing now about £25m think there is light and hope.

I know we all want the world and we want it now, but this needs a bit of time yet before this debacle is over I'm afraid. Driver take a rest, take a stroll in the park, you deserve it and here on the IOM we aprecaite more than many what you have done to raise the profile and put pressure on where it hurts. Thanks Ziggy,

Apologies if it has appeared to some that I have been away, I can assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. The weekend and in particular the last two days have been very hectic and my time was better spend attending to matters away from the site.

As a result of the last week's work we have a legal update for all:

http://www.ksfiomdepositors.org/node/992#comment-14818

In addition to the legal work, I also had a meeting with Mary Creagh MP and her assistant Pete Robins on Monday afternoon. Mary is the MP who has aranged for our issues to be debated in the House of Commons on Thursday. The first thing to report is just how supportive Mary is, she really has taken a lot of time to understand our plight and no matter what happens we need to recognise all that she is trying to do for us. The meeting took over an hour and I feel confident that Mary has all the information she needs to put our case in the House.

Along with other fellow depositors I was as the TSC and I share a lot of the sentiments echoed on here. I don't think it's as bad as a few people seem to think but it appears Darling's comments were as big a surprise to the IoM as they were to any of us. The TSC didn't change anything except that it showed that we are not going away. They questions got asked because of all the emailing everyone on here did - thank you! I got a chance to speak to a few guys from the press and gave them updates on our situation. A few of thses have made it into print and a few will have got lost in the general mayhem of the banking crisis and the US election.

The strategy for the London team at the moment is to do the following:

  • ensure representation at the liquidation hearing on 27/11.

  • hold meetings with London law firms to ensure that we are in a position of strength should we need to follow a legal path. This will include taking advice on the best way forward from here.

  • brief specific sections of the media (no mass press release) as to our continuing situation and actions that we are taking. Will all the news about the US election at the moment it is important we target the right sections of the press to ensure we are heard.

  • continue the campaign on MPs (I hope you've all used the latest letter) to make sure that they are aware of the debate on Thursday, they are aware of the REAL issues and that they are fully briefed for the debate.

  • respond to news out of the IoM. The team in the Island have done a great job holding discussions at high levels and pressing for action, we now need to support their efforts and make sure the media are focused on anything eminating from the island (other than self-serving press releases such as last night).

  • targetting specific MPs who have shown us good signs of support and feeding them all the info they need to continue our fight within Westminster. I will be requesting meetings with some of these but I'm unsure how accommodating they will be at this stage.

I hope this gives you all some idea of what has been happening over the past few days as well as giving you an insight into what the next week to ten days holds for us.

That's pretty much it except for this: I want to highlight the work that Elgee has been doing to help us out...in particular me. I could not have spoken to the lawyers I did, in as an effective way as I did had he not paved the way first. He has put in hour upon hour of effort to get us all the info we need and been amzing support - thank you!

This next week we should concentrate on IOM Govt and getting answers as to what they are doing and what they are achieving to resolve this disaster.
The world press will have its mind on the US elections.

Just to say how greatly all your efforts are appreciated. You are clearly very focused and competent and I have complete faith in you. I also received the standard Treasury reply and to put it succinctly told them "not good enough". I have also corresponded with The Derbyshire and advised them that their position of " not our responsibility and they have spoken to the relevant authorities" as also not being good enough. I told them there are lots of clever, erudite people affected and this will just not go away and that their reputation will also suffer if a satisfactory conclusion is not reached.
