Here's a verse and a chorus.. A bit rough at present but should be OK with a bit more work..

NOW

We need some more verses.. All contributions appreciated and considered! Please add below as replies to this post.
Nick

Verse:
I worked for years to save enough to live the way I please
I’m not what you’d call extravagant; I live within my means.
I’m not relying on government hand-outs for my retirement plan;
I put my money for safe keeping in a bank on the Isle of Man
If I’d wanted to take a gamble and risk getting divorced,
I’d have put it on the stock market or bet it on a horse!

Chorus:
Manx Bank you took my money in and now my money’s gone.
You wouldn’t give it back to me, that’s why I wrote this song!
You say the English stole it which might very well be true
But you had it last and lost it, so I’m a’blaming you!

All I want from the the powers in the Isle of Man
Is do as other countries, give back 100% deposits, to a man.
Promised the protection of a parental guarantee.
Believed in all the hype, felt safe, well silly me
All the promises of safe banking have been hollow
Lost all my savings, life is now grim, what a BLOW!

Chorus.

Well I tried!

I havent had the moat cleaned for who knows when
The ducks are still living in that same old pen
Yet Darling froze my money sent my bank/KSF down the pan
Serves you right ,why keep your savings on the Isle of Man
Its a little old island in the Irish Sea where Tony 'sparks' Brown says leave it to me
we sort it out, nowt to do with you,we all agree its a Manx issue

Hi Nick,

Since you seem to be moving into a more aggressive genre, how about adapting Johnny Winter's song "Dallas"?

You get a whole new meaning when you replace "Dallas" and "Texas" with "Douglas" and "IOM", and words like "people" and "rednecks" with, for example, "bankers" ;-)

Here are the lyrics:

Goin' back to Dallas, take my razor and my gun
Goin' back to Dallas, man, take my razor and my gun, oh yeah
Lots of people lookin' for trouble, man, sure gonna give 'em in some

I believe old Dallas, man, is the meanest town I know
I believe that Dallas, man, is the meanest town I know
Because you're not safe in Dallas, I don't care where you go

You know that I'm evil, just wanna have some fun
There's so much shit in Texas, I'm bound to step in some
Goin' back to Dallas, take my razor and my gun
If there are people lookin' for trouble, sure gonna give 'em some

I load up my revolver, sharpen up my knife
Some redneck messin' with me man, I'm bound to have his life
Down to Dallas, take my razor and my gun
Man, people there lookin' for trouble, sure gonna give 'em some

When are we going to hear you playing the guitar and singing. I loved the Alchemy song - this one has to be very good to beat that!

They take a wee while to ferment... ;-)
