Yet another day passes and no dosh arrives. Please reply if you've received your claimed DCS payment, by cheque or BACS or whatever.

The stink is getting stronger.

I have received every penny back and can get on with my life.I had just less than 50 Grand in the bank so IOM extending the guarantee from 15,000 to 50,000 was a lifesaver.

I just saw on the DCS website that they are now on holiday till 4th January. So it looks like more waiting for those of us who have not yet received the balances due from the 15.2 %
Certainly I intend to reassign my money after this as KPMG they are just too slow and very unhelpful.

You can imagine our delight at FINALLY receiving our joint compensation payments today. Can you then imagine our utter DISAPPOINTMENT and disbelief when we open the envelope and our cheques, having been sent all the way to Africa, are UNSIGNED?!
Any suggestions as to who and where we start complaining and begin this payment process all over again??

How awful and what unprecedented cruelty - but then again, the very situation we all find ourselves is brutal to begin with. I sympathize with your disappointment and can only suggest that if the cheques arrived via the DCS that you contact Peter Halpin, who has always been helpful, efficient and manages to convey a sense of compassion. His number is +44 1624 681026. Hope this helps.

I agree that KPMG appear overwhelmed with this task they've taken on, but is the liquidator's office any more efficient, helpful and quicker at plowing through the paper work? Is there anyone who has received the balance due from the 15.2% dividend that was promised for December? And if so, from whom? Also, how does one go about reassigning rights to the liquidator, if that is really the way to go.

The only other thought I have is that PWC is also on Christmas / New Year break so there really is no-one to talk to until well into January, 2010.

Happy New Year everyone and let's hope 2010 will be a happier one for us than 2009.

Just to let you know I have been lucky to receive a second payment through the DCS. A cheque arrived on my doormat on 22nd December. This means that I have now received a 40% payout through DCS. I got my initial £50,000 in October and have now had a small, but very welcome top up. Good luck to everyone still waiting for their money - only another 60% to go!

So total 40% to date.

Nothing received here either.

How are we supposed to know what's happening? The DCS' recorded message appears not to have been updated for three months. I have received no indication of any specific problem with my claim, nor is there any news of general reasons for delay.

I should have stayed with Mike Simpson. 40% would have been really nice. How stupid of me to trust the IoM. Once bitten - surely?

Does anyone know if and how one can switch back to the Liquidator?

Well....

After receiving the 1st 10,000 in June I have awaited the second compensation payment.

My first set of forms for the second payment went "astray".

When I discovered that I sent a repeat batch over at the beginning of September 2009.

I was informed yesterday, 6 November, by KPMG through e-mail that ......

1) the address details I have supplied on the forms do not match those held by the bank and that I must supply them with a new address ....
(my present address is identical to that reflected on the Kaupthing statement, the same one I have had for 35 years - not that they have used it to communicate with me at all)

2) that I have not given the liquidators my bank details ...
(my bank details are identical to those when I received my first payment, and since I held the account with the Derbyshire),

3) If I do not do so, they will pay me by postal cheque.
(this is the funniest part of all... a postal cheque? to Africa?)

Its been a long, long wait, but our compensation payments have finally been received by our UK bank after bouncing back and forth. The 2-month delay since payments were approved by the Scheme Manager was caused by the bank only accepting BACS (not CHAPS) transfers to personal accounts and only CHAPS (not BACS) transfers to their correspondent bank. The DCS was presumably not aware of this, but Peter Halpin (Scheme Agent) finally sorted out the mess in a very helpful and courteous manner. His direct telephone number is +441624681026.

I was told by E-Mail by KPMG that once they received the assignment forms it would take between 4-6 weeks to PROCESS the claims made by my wife and I,this is after they received the signed forms on 16th Sept 09,I rang the KSF office today to find out the current status of the claims,a spotty faced sounding office kid, told me he couldnt tell me anything, except these process,s take time,so I asked to speak to someone from PWC,since they are all holed up in the same office,a similar young office kid arrived on the phone, giving me the same answers, very vague and evasive,I,m afraid I raised my voice, and told him what I thought of their efforts, and commitment to all the long suffering depositors of KSFIOM,I tried to get him to explain whats involved in processing of claims by PWC,he wouldnt explain, but he did point out that when they completed THE PROCESS it had to be signed off by the liquidator, this could take a further 2 weeks,as today he is off-island,as he very often is,all this of course BEFORE the claims are sent back to DCS,the time they need ,well I dont know,I told him we were pensioners, and our 2008 uk state pens were in those accounts, and reminded him, unlike him and his colleauges,we dont get paid every month, the amounts they receive, his reply was even more evasive, like he didnt give a damn, these process,es take time.It seems like they are working to instuctions,to stretch this out as long as want to.They have had all depositors information for a year or more, what on earth do they have to do to veryify a claim, other check a signature, its perhaps better I dont live on the IOM.What can be done to get these people to focus and work efficiently, they are supposed to be representing us depositors, and being paid extremely well to do it,I am once more totally disgusted with IOM,DCS,and PWC shenanigins, with innocent hard working peoples life savings.

Our claim was validated on 9 Sept. Two weeks later I requested a trace to be done as no funds had been received by our bank. KMPG-DCS admin informed me that there had been some or other error with the transfer which they had corrected and so I could expect my funds within 10 days (the scheme manager had to approve the payment again). Nothing! I then made numerous (costly, overseas) calls to KMPG leaving messages to contact me as they do not take calls - too busy! I eventually got a call-back to say the matter was being attended to and we could expect payment soon - this was on 5 October. I have since made several more calls, sent numerous e-mails but have not had any further response. The lady on the switchboard is very sweet, but cannot put my calls through. So we wait...and wait...and wait... another week has gone by, and still nothing. Anyone out there in the same boat?

My few hundred quid outstanding must surely rate as one of the smallest claims, but it's enough for an octogenarian's saucy weekend in Blackpool! The proof of debt was accepted but 'held over' until payment details were clarified. A KSFIOM website statement 14/10/09 indicates that this is not an isolated case, but weekly e-mails requesting an update are ignored. Perhaps they're not getting through. Any ideas of where e-mails should be sent to reach the liquidators would be appreciated.

Why are we bothering to waste time and energy posting these messages? DCS will pay us or not pay us when they want to and we will do nothing about it, so let's just stop talking about it. The more we call the longer they'll take.

Face facts - unless we are en masse going to camp out on M Fayle's doorstep then no one is interested. Where was the media coverage of our anniversary? Barely rated a mention. Watchdog were interested but what's happening? They're covering stories of builders who are scamming a few people but several thousand of KSF depositors are effectively scammed and they're too scared of the "legal implications" to do anything.

If you think legal action will help then throw every penny you have at it and cross your fingers, otherwise just get on with your life as best you can and maybe from time to time you'll receive a little bit of your money back.

The time for action was when there were more of us and we didn't take it - too busy arguing.

Has anyone else received less than they were expecting, even though th total amount in their account was up to 50K? And the following explanation sent with their payment for the reduced amount. Does it make sense?

The liquidator issued a statement of your account including accrued interest calculated at the contractual rate. Under Isle of Man statutes and rules, where a company is in liquidation and is not able to pay its debts in full, the amount of accrued interest that can be claimed is the lower of the contractual rate or 5% per annum. The amount of compensation payable is based on "an eligible protected deposit". Subject to all the validation criteria being met, the value of the eligible protected deposit is the amount accepted by the liquidator as having been assigned by the depositor to the DCS. This is the admitted claim value. In practice for most claimants this is a relatively small sum, and may give rise to a slightly lower compensation payment than you might have expected.

They deducted 14 pounds from my 40K and proffered the following explanation:

The payment you have received is calculated in accordance with the balance admitted by the Liquidators. Please note that the reason for the apparent shortfall is not due to administration charges for the Scheme which a number of claimants appear to think.

The Bankruptcy Code 1892 states that uncapitalised interest in excess of 5% will not rank for dividend until all other unsecured claims have been paid in full. Accordingly, the difference between your higher contractual entitlement to interest and your statutory entitlement to interest has been properly deducted from your balance admitted for dividend at this time.
Basically this means that the maximum interest rate that can be paid in this case is 5%. If the liquidators where to make sufficient recoveries that all creditors can be paid in full you would then be entitled to receive the shortfall in the interest that has been paid to you.

It's totally incomprehensible to me. I wrote back saying that I've been denied access to my own money for over a year and now, when they decide to give me what amounts to barely a third of it, I'm charged interest. It's Kafkaesque.

No reply to that.

I'm gonna ring them up and give them untill next Monday then I'll take legal action against the DCS and/or KPMG. Seems like what I've been avoiding doing has to be done. But I can't see any other way of getting our house back and ending this God awful nightmare. I'm just a regular bloke the same as you all and I don't know how the hell I got into this mess. You have already waited too much, wait of further week or two more should not be a problem. Try to contact Mr Peter Halpin he has helped many , may will solve your problem too. If you go for a legal action, I think half of your money will go in fees and still thinng will not move fast.

I had a phone call yesterday from Peter Halpin of the DCS, enquiring whether I’d received my DCS payment. I had, on 6 Oct, after approval on 3 Sept and a tracking request. I did think of acknowledging the payment at the time but refrained as they were obviously inundated with queries.

I mention this here as it may indicate that there have been difficulties with some payments that some of you are still awaiting. Or, of course, it may have been a courtesy call but I don’t think anyone else has mentioned one.

I finally got a call back from the liquidators to say my clam had been approved. After a few more questions it emerged that it had been approved but was now in another queue waiting to be signed off and returned to DCS. There was no information on how long this would take so i'm preparing myself for another long wait.

To be fair, the liquidator has done their bit so far at a comparatively reasonable speed, the delays have all been on the part of the DCS.

The sensible option here would be for everyone who gets their 50k to put £1k into a fund to take action against DCS management for incompetence but I don't suppose it will happen so they'll not only get away with this incompetence and take enormous fees from our kitty but will no doubt be awarded similar work in the future and do the same again.

Try calling Elaine McCormack on (44) 1624 689392. She called me last week to let me know our claim was validated after 3months. I had originally contacted Mr David Clucas on (44) 1624 689316 who I believe emailed her. She said we should expect payment this week...

Thanks very much

My husband and I haven't even managed to get authorised. I'm also on the verge of taking legal advice. So far I haven't been asked to provide any information at all. As British citizens, lifetime british residents, company directors, taxpayers etc. I would have thought it would be a relatively simple matter to verify our identity compared to some depositors based overseas.

I honestly believe that half a dozen of our membership could have dealt with this DCS payment well before now so how come the 'professionals' are so incompetent? I can only believe the tardiness is an attempt to steal more of our money from the coffers.

I'm starting to believe that every time I comment here or email them that I'm being moved further down the list.

Seems that the former great Britain is now ruled by the IOM since our poxy government isn't even able to stand up to them. Or does our ailing government just not care about british citizens any more? Either way I am wishing so much that I didn't live here, I'm ashamed to say i'm british now. My suggestion to those of you overseas - stay there, you will only be disillusioned further if you come back here.

Keep at 'em Lorraine

Lorraine, I thankfully don't live in the same Hemisphere as the UK but all this crap makes me more grateful every day that I don't! KPMG are "supposed" to be in the top 4 accountancy firms in the world! What a sick joke!

I don't think that they have wit to read these sites and black list us. I mean cheques and simple transfers which are meat and drink to everyone else are beyond them. If brains were dymamite they wouldn't have enough to blow their hats off!!!

Don't bother emigrating KPMG staff, all the McDonalds jobs are gone!

Cheers
