Just received a £300 cheque from a very old friend I gave (she insisted lent) her many years ago when she was in dire need - and she didn't even know about my trouble with KS&F IOM! Best news of all is that she is now at last financially independent.

My cat has had loose bowels intermittently for the last 6 weeks. He has this great technique of standing in his litter tray deposits then running around the flat here in Macau leaving very smelly footprints begind him. Today is the first day that he hasn't made a mess of my bed sheets! That's the extent of my good news.

Wonderful news cottesmore, indeed what a relief! At the end of the day your health is the most important thing, without that the rest of life's other challenges pales into insignifigance. All the money we've got in the world can't make up for good health.

So pleased you are OK and you & yours can at least remove that worry from your minds. Hopefully a somewhat better Xmas will be had by you all.

As a happy a Xmas as can be manged to one and all and look forward to a healthier, wealthier 2009!

My wife and I went to Macau last week (from Hong Kong) to celebrate my 65th. I've been taking breaks there for >35 years. Never gambled a cent. My brother-in-law, a Macau resident, insisted I wager a few dollars on the day of my birthday to test my luck.

So I reluctantly bought HK$100-worth of five-cents-a-time goes on a slot machine at The Venetian.

No, I didn't win our life savings back. But I quit when I had made 40% profit. So, good joss is assured for me for the coming twelve months.

And that must mean good for you lot out there too, mustn't it?

[Okay, okay, so 40% of HK$100 is only US$5. Spoilsport!]

Put a dollar on three-legged horse and it came in. Now I've got 5 dollars! Better news than that - have two healthy, happy girls ( young women really but want to think I'm still young!) which I'm seeing for Christmas. Part of this group, emailing away. This makes me feel good - at least!

It's been snowing here all day today and forecast to keep coming for a few days so it's a beautiful white world out there, reminding me just how much I love living here. At least snow should mean lots of work over the winter which should help to get the rent paid (do I need to add 'in the absence of interest payments'?).

This forum is a total waste of space.

Instead of wasting time telling us how your cat is or how your child is being toilet trained, do somethign useful, like writing to you MP or the press.

Do we really want to know good news when it is so irrelevant? I would rather hear good news on when I am going to get £350, 000 returned that is lost.

I guess the answer is not to read the Good News Forum, so I won't.

This space is just a chance to, unwind and say something that makes people feel good.
You are quite right, most of it is irrelevant. So dont bother looking!
Some people struggle to cope and dont have the expertise to contribute to the stratagy. But they have one common problem. They are owed money, as well as you.
By the way, i also want to hear good news about my £391,000 as well,OK.

We took a quick look in this morning to see if there were any possible replacements [impossible, I mean successors] for our recently-departed Burmese. We've asked them to reserve 2 possibles, including a Birman with a bit of hip trouble. We'll go and meet them properly on Tuesday ... because they'll be choosing us, and not the other way round. The house doesn't feel right without a supervisory cat! Fingers crossed!

[Edit at 17:36 on Monday. Sadly the Birman, whilst beautiful, was completely bereft of personality. The other one, which we had asked 2 weeks ago to be reserved for us in case anything changed ... was reserved on Saturday, and nobody told us! Dammit!!]

We recently cancelled our trip to LA due next week and, due to a technical hitch, the airline has refunded our tkts! It is amazing how some £1,000 makes such a BIG difference now that we're so skint. My husband is dreaming of having a good curry at our local restaurant to celebrate but I had to remind him we can't afford such luxuries now so am searching for cheapest curry recipie I can prepare at home!

Have a good weekend everyone and let's all come back on Monday reinvigorated.

Great News, just been speaking to a friend in NZ who found out she had breast cancer in June, and was diagnosed initially with 12 months to live, she's had the surgery done, just gone through the radiotherapy bit (not nice that) and is starting chemoterapy soon, and the prognosis is that they should be able to keep it at bay - now thats good news

I saw Queen with Freddie a dozen times in past years, and then saw Queen with no Freddie 3 years ago, and again at the Nelson Mandela concert in June this year. They were still bloody good. Was really sorry not to have been able to get somewhere to see them this time around. How was it? I envy you - could have done with some cheering up, + I'm sure that would have worked.
