Hello to everyone on this website,

Apologies for not contributing before now, I've been keeping up to date on the forum and events whilst unfolding but not posted anything until now.

I have a few ideas and not sure whether they would help or not but I figured it was worth posting them and maybe try them out and see what happens!!

1) Has anyone from the IOM actually been to Iceland?? Would it be worth a few of us going up there to meet with as many people as possible - almost following in the German mans footsteps?? I for one would be very willing to go to see as many people as possible in the IOM, UK & Iceland...

2) Has anybody considered getting someone to fly over London or major events with a banner asking Darling questions??

3) I'm prepared to help whoever, in whatever way possible. I'm fairly good at getting through to the correct people so could maybe call media or other companies if any would like help??

I just want to help resolve this whole mess asap!!

Thanks Andy for the contact details - just emailed you - about to have dinner but will call him afterwards!!

Chipmunk - yes I realise that, however, it must be possible to get banners into visible places - on boats sailing down the Thames? On the Capital 95.8 Flying Eye plane etc etc.... its just going to take some thought outside of the box. I just figured if its becoming very obvious around central London and near to the Houses of Parliament maybe something can be done and get a huge amount of media attention. I know a few pilots and also a few people at a local airfield.

However, it was just an idea....

I agree and any publicity will be good for us all......I wonder what it costs to publisise the issue on onw e of those flashing billboards in Picadily or thereabouts....or a prominant board or two around London....Unfortunately I live in Portugal and cannot easily look into this but I would sure back this idea and support it financially with others....if that could be done. Not sure how legal it is to and not sure exactly what we would say....but the idea is good and I for one would like to persue this .
I guess step one is Ideas for the message and at the same time do we have any advertising boys out there to help us with the process....Im sure we could raise the money between us all for a couple of weeks shouting at least.....
Comments please.!

PS.....I spend my life pulling banners along the Algarve coastline but not viable to bring it up to the UK....The messages by the way are pretty limited to about 38 Letters...I do of course have contacts here that do the same work as me but its very expensive and limited but I will look into the viability but I very much doubt if we would get permission to fly banners over central London.....

Hi Laserblues2,

I have already contacted a very close Icelandic friend of mine called Andri Snaer Magnason.

For more on Andri :

Andri sent me this letter last week . . . . . . .

Hi Andy (lastpubrunner)

I am addressing a big public protest, Iceland is collapsing because of a few greedy bankers,

almost a national protest saturday - we might see 40.000 people

hopefully not riots, but there might be

if you look at my website www.andrimagnason.com there is a picture from the last riot.

have your parents got there money back?

and just to ask:

would you have a message from the ice save victims of uk?

or just a general message?

(just to get an idea - and maybe to use)

all the best

andri snær

Andri is a leading Icelandic figure - Writer, Environmentalist, Political Commentator. He knows the Icelandic Ambassador to the UK (whom I met via Andri); most Icelandic politicians and is friends with such media figures as Bjork and Sigur Ros. In May this year, he featured in an article in National Geographic Magazine, speaking out against Alcoa in Iceland. He is the sort of person who gets heard !!!

On Thursday & Friday, I contacted 4 or 5 of the 'officials' on this forum and suggested that they either contact me and pass on a message to Andri or contact him direct (I provided his email address and said that I could provide his telephone number if need be).

For whatever reason, no-one from this forum has contacted Andri, so I sent quite a detailed message to him myself, describing the plight of Kaupthing Singer IOM depositors.

He would be an ideal person to speak on behalf of Kaupthing Singer IOM depositors.

He is a leading Icelandic media figure and has offered to help. As he mentions in his letter

"would you have a message from the ice save victims of uk?"

Obviously, 'we' are Kaupthing Singer (not Icesave), but it'll make no difference to him.

Frankly, I think we need all the help that we can get !

Andri is a family friend and I can contact him at any time, but I think that more 'impact' could be made, if he was contacted through the auspices of this forum, rather than just through me as an individual.

If those running this forum have any statements that they would like to be relayed via Andri, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes to All on this forum

Need more pressure on Iceland before IMF deal is finalized

I know there are many avenues being pursued to resolve our situation, and one of them is pressuring Iceland regarding the parental guarantee.

The Reuters article today about the IMF deal states
"Haarde said money to cover the Icesave payouts would come from the sale of the assets of the three nationalised banks."

This does not sound good, how can they sell our assets to pay out Icesave? Wasn't the UK Government supposed to be representing IOM in negotiations with Iceland.? The deal will be finalized on November 19th, let's hit them with all we have before then.

Thanks for the reply - I have

Thanks for the reply - I have just looked on his website for contact information but not found any - please could you either post on here or email me (laserblues2(?)hotmail [dot] com) his phone number and I will call him later.

I feel we should be doing something to sort this out.... but wanted to run it by others first.

Hi Nick,

I've just sent Andri's phone number to your hotmail address.

I've just spoken to him and he says that you are welcome to phone him. I'd do so asap.

He told me that a protest group from 'the Netherlands' has just visited Iceland to lobby the Icelandic Government.

All the Best,
