Like all of you, I am fed up with all of this. I expected justice to be done today in the Courts of Law on the IOM and that their judge (or whatever he calls himself over there) would have seen how unfair it is that we depositors should have to pick up the tab for their devious machinations and therefore decide to call it a day and let justice be seen to be done. But No, it didn't happen, he has adjourned the case! Too complicated for him apparently to make a decision! Well, I want my deposit back, I earned it and it cost a lot. They in the Derbyshire said it was guaranteed but they sold it on to cowboys in Kaupthing, without asking me, but not to worry, as they too said it was guaranteed etc., etc., blah, blah, blah, so all would be alright......and the rest is history. The longer all this goes on the longer the suffering and the more intense the indignation. I for one confess that it is beginning to eat away at my insides. I am truly sick of this. I am still strong though and I will fight this. After all, I am retired now but I will fight for this for my children. I would have preferred to go to war to defend my country as generations of my family did before me. That was a good fight, not this devious battle of attrition with barristors, lawyers, liquidators, judges and god knows who else. Enough is enough. So, what to do. A SIT-IN IN FRONT OF TYNWALD, chained to its gates until something is done. The weather is a bit more clement over there right now so we will not die of hunger and a ham sandwich is all we need to stave off the cold. This is awful to ask but are there any out there committed to doing this. DAG, again, please get in touch. You are a life-line and have done so much for all of us. What can we do?

Chancellor Darling was only able to use the powers within the Anti Terrorism Act, freezing the assets of nearly 300,000 depositors in IceSave, because he immediately vouchsafed all IceSave accounts100%. Similarly, after instructing the FSA to put Kaupthing under administration whilst moving 170,000 accounts to ING, he told all depositors that their savings were 100% safe. Had he not made those promises, then some 470,000 UK savers would have held him to account for the loss of their savings. Mr Darling’s presumptuous and unprecedented use of Anti Terror laws to deprive hundreds of thousands of citizens of their life-savings would have brought riots to the streets of the United Kingdom. As it is, he has only 10,000 widely scattered Isle of Man savers to contend with, and without expressions of outrage from the opposition, this task has been extremely simple.

The TSC is conceived as a toothless wonder: lots of exposure and noise, but lacking substance and action. Recommendations are not rules to be obeyed, but merely utterances to be ignored over time. Only direct action will bring about a reversal in this sorry situation; sticks and stones may break their bones, but emails will never hurt them. Politicians cannot be shamed – except by direct public exposure under the limelight. Unless we gather ourselves and make a physical presence in numbers running into thousands, we will never make an impact.

Icecrusher... as always, and in inimitable style, you have hit the nail on the head. Am doing all I can to get the attention of national newspaper editors. They could open up the field for us if they so chose and shame those politicians who did this to us. Just one editor is all we need. That journalist assured me he was interested in our story but am going to push matters a little harder if nothing is more forthcoming in the next couple of days. Am thinking of travelling to London and knocking on his door, literally, and saying I have a story which needs to be told. I would be grateful if someone such as you, with your obvious intellect and penchant for telling things as they are, could be there with me to fill in all the details of this saga which I am afraid I might forget. I want to face the editor, not as a victim, but as a warrior fighting for justice. If I get that far, I will tell you. I will be needing not only an Icecrusher but also an axe-man. Best wishes.

All this is plain evil. I know depositiors personally who have attempted suicides, couples who deposited home sales. Its just that I feel that press coverage did not want to cover us in that way, its like why did you have these huge cash deposits anyway.I mean this whole crisis was about supporting people with loans and mortgages not people who saved. I saw it no different than confiscation of wealth, something the third reich did and that was Evil, what the hell is this?..
