Deposit account held with Derbyshire IOM
My wife and I, both in our sixties had accounts with Derbyshire IOM and saw no reason to withdraw our money after the Kaupthing S & F buy out. Why would we? The bank rating agencies did not indicate heightened risk and Kaupthing was associated with a long-standing City of London institution (Singer & Friedlander). Perhaps we should have done our homework with Kaupthing but it was the no 1 Icelandic bank and it did offer a parent guarantee to cover 100% of deposits. This is no cliche, we have literally lost our life's savings. I am having to return to work (self employed) to scrape a few pounds together something I never intended to do after over 40 years working.
