From Conservative Party Abroad website

http://www.conservativesabroad.org/

"Icelandic Banks
Our attention has been drawn to a number of British citizens living overseas who have been affected by the collapse of the Landsbanki bank. If you have been affected, please contact us.

http://www.conservativesabroad.org/

Well they have asked..........so it would be polite if all Expats on KSFIOM DAG respond.

IMPORTANT NOTE: the CP website exists because the Conservative Party wants to broaden its support base & needs donations now & for a future general election fighting fund.

So all you need to do is:
1. reply using the 'contact' on-screen message box but don't bombard with a load of screed;
2. state very concisely in a small nutshell what you stand to lose
(eg: life savings, money for house, business, pension top-up, etc.,)
if the PM's guarantee isn't extended to you as a UK citizen who has deposited out of necessity off-shore in KSF IOM)
3. ask the CP to pledge support to expat depositors in their campaign to get their money back -- if it will, offer to join the Party or offer to make a donation to the Party

Last week a question was tabled by Philip Dunne MP, initially asking about the Landsbanki bank. Once we have received a reply to this question we will ask a follow up relating to Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander.
The question was:
Mr Philip Dunne (Ludlow): To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will make provision for British citizens living overseas who are unable to access their deposits in subsidiaries of Icelandic banks following the Government's decision to freeze the assets of the Landsbanki bank.

Please be assured that I will email you once again when we have received a reply and when a follow up question has been tabled.
In the meantime this should give a gauge as to the government’s position.
Kind Regards
Michael Rutt

I have emailed Osborne to bring to his attention the plight of KSF IoM savers and the need for HMG to return of seizedfunds . The cause being Darlings comments and the freezing of £555m.
I have received the reply below.
Dear John,

OK, thank you for this - I have passed your comments to George for his consideration. We appreciate you taking the time and trouble to get in touch.
Yours,
Emily Clifton
Correspondence Secretary to the Shadow Chancellor

Keep the emails up we may just be getting through. Vince Cable has already twigged and if we can get the conservatives asking questions the need for a speedy resolution will increase.

Political pressure is also being applied to the UK Government with Tory MP for Ludlow Philip Dunne tabling a parliamentary question to Chancellor Alistair Darling asking if he would make provision for British citizens living overseas who are unable to access deposits in subsidiaries of Icelandic banks following the government's decision to freeze bank assets.

Michael Rutt, of the Conservatives Abroad group, said further questions specifically on Kaupthing could be tabled, depending on the reply from Mr Darling. He said: 'This is obviously something that affects British citizens all over the world and we will look to represent their interests.'

Have you e-mailed Chris Huhne? I did some days ago & received a reply

see here: http://chrishuhne.org.uk/news/000399/government_slapped_down_over_assetf...
This is a transcript:

Government slapped down over asset-freezing orders

Commenting on the High Court ruling that asset-freezing orders imposed by the Treasury under UN anti-terror laws are legally flawed because Parliament was bypassed, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said:

"A crucial difference between this country and a banana republic is that ministers are not allowed to go around arbitrarily arresting people or confiscating their property without due process under the rule of law.

"Not for the first time, Gordon Brown's Government has been found behaving like one of the worst Latin American juntas. Thankfully our judges have slapped them down as they deserve."

This website was posted earlier in the Forum & a number of members have written, hence the message at the bottom of its Home page.

The powers that be in the Tory Party now know what's happened to you as a consequence of the Government's invoking the terrorism Act to protect UK resident depositors in Kaupthing UK & Icesave, so no need to major on that issue.

IMPORTANT NOTE: the CP website exists because the Conservative Party wants to broaden its support base & needs donations now & for a future general election fighting fund.

on the LHS there's a box "Where are you"....enter your country, hit the arrow and you'll find a list of useful contacts; ideal for sending e-mails to !!! check it out all you expats.
