Just picked up Alrod7's posting about complaining to Parliamentary Ombudsman (upon his MP's recommendation). This is an excellent idea., and according to the quote below, Darling definitely falls into the complaint category.

"The Ombudsman is unable to look at complaints about Members of Parliament (MPs), unless they are government ministers carrying out the administrative work of their departments."

So let's get writing, as we have lots to tell them.

Whilst this proposal is clearly well-intended it is respectfully suggested that this is NOT the time to be making a complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
If there is to be a complaint at some future point it would be preferable for it to be inclusive of other matters and be presented in the context of a piece of planned strategy for & on behalf of DAG.

It is also important to be aware that making such a complaint could be an important element of any legal action that might be contemplated in the furtherance of DAG's objectives if we are not happy with the an outcome that is to our satisfaction. A complaint that is upheld would be a key element in any proposed strategy that involves legal action to recover all depositors' money

It is important that to be effective any complaint should be carefully worded to ensure that:
1. it is within the Ombudsman's remit;
2. it is accurate in detail
2. it gives references to the matters complained of (dates, places, context, etc..)
3. it gives your full name, address, & contact details but not your bank account number

If a complaint is to be made in the name of DAG it should be submitted first to the Forum in the form of a DRAFT for consideration, and ultimately should be submitted to the Ombudsman by the Forum's chief administrator, or someone nominated by him to be a spokesperson on behalf of the Forum.

If members make a complaint as individuals in their own right (i.e: not as members of DAG) you might like to submit a draft here anyway if you would like one of the Core people to have a look at it & comment thereon

could I please suggest until we wait for a legal update from Edwin Coe so we have the correct information/action going forward before we start bombarding the Ombudsman, then we can do so with a clear strategy

Seconded.

I agree with sleeplesnight's suggestion, though do we have an idea when such an update might be available?

Also thanks to LJ for his observations, and I would add that nothing can be done "in the name of" the DAG as a whole unless it has been put to a vote, or agreed by the DAG's formally elected spokespeople (who don't exist!)
