Since messages which do not contain foul language, adult themes, racism, sexism or personal information but which don't fit in with the web site controllers idea of how things should proceed are now being deleted should there not be a clearer statement at the top of the website entry page that this website is for the futhereance of the aims of the website controller rather than feigning pretence at it being for the purpose of "Coordinating information and action for KSF (IoM) Depositors"?

While you are wasting everyone time and getting attention turned on to you some of us are working tirelessly to try and resolve this terrible situation.
How dare you insinuate that we are doing this for self promotion.
I have spent the last 6 weeks working my butt off as have many others on behalf of the depositors, of which I am one. Are you by the way?
United behind a common cause.
Either start rowing with us or get off the boat.

If your comment were valid, wouldn't we simply delete it?

Would you like me to delete it in order to help you prove your point? (you seem to be struggling to convince people.)

namsak, WHY are you here?

I for one think the moderators are doing a good job.
Can you post examples/details of the alleged censorship.?
I can see no evidence of it; unless you know better...
Otherwise it seems like a moan without any basis

Namsak -
I hope this response will help you & others to understand better why we have moderators, what they do & why they do it

Like most forums this Forum has aims, objectives and a Mission

Members are expected to make contributions in conformity with the Forum's aims, objectives & Mission.

-- the Forum is not a 'free for all' place where 'anything goes'
-- the Forum is regulated by commonly accepted forum etiquette
-- the Forum has moderators to ensure that Forum etiquette is followed

Forum etiquette

(1) Posts are about, & in support of, the Forum's aims, objectives & mission
(2) comments to Posts are in response to the Post & address the issues therein
(3) comments under a Post that are not about or related to the Post are not acceptable
'(4) trolling' is not allowed (see definition below)
(5) 'flaming' is not allowed (see definition below)
(6) the use of vulgar/obscene/offensive/racist or insulting language is not allowed

Definitions

A 'troll' is invariably someone with 'a chip on their shoulder' or with 'an axe to grind'. 'Trolls' are a disruptive & divisive influence in a forum.
'Trolls' seduce forum members into responding angrily to their contributions by using subtle, but controversial language.
Trolls' will often divert a discussion off track in order to impose their own separate agenda.

A 'troll post' is invariably written as intentionally incorrect in order to bait the emotions of members, for the purpose of getting them to 'flame' each other (i.e.:get at each other in an angry/heated fashion). Thereby the 'trolls' get their kicks.

Role of moderator

Essentially the moderator polices the Forum in order to:
(1) see that forum etiquette is observed
(2) deal with incidents of 'trolling' & 'flaming'
(3) edit/modify or delete offending material & breaches of etiquette
(4) receive & act on complaints made by one member in repect of another member's post/behaviour

NB: In this Forum moderators are also editors, exercising wider responsibilities for modifying & revising elements of the Forum to keep them up-to-date (eg: revising the notes under HELP! )

Nice one LJ, but now you've gone to so much trouble, we ought to post that more prominently... re-create it as a new topic if you want, and we can link it from the FAQ and new user posts - or do it as a blog entry - up to you.

Re. loss of posts due to server problems, there has only been one occurrence (to my knowledge) and that was documented here ... "Due to a failed bulk database update, it was necessary to restore from backup. Any posts made between approximately 02:25 and 04:10 GMT on 16-Nov will have been lost - not much from my calculations, but a handful of postings will have been affected." Server down-time should be minimal now that we have resolved teething problems (fingers crossed!)

I've seen plenty of posts which disagree with our 'leaders' so what are you saying? Every depositor is working first and foremost for their own money to be returned but most of us realise that working together means there is more chance of us getting our money back. If you have something to say say it i'm confident it will be heard.

and have you checked to see that it isn't a server problem?

I have watched the server go down once and seen information about other times. And then yes postings were lost (not deleted) but if you had looked there was information about that.

So do you have proof? If you do the post it and I will be very interested, otherwise it seems a baseless accusation.

Hi Wanda,
I do hope that the above statement on the role of the moderators in the Forum will help you to understand better what it is all about. We try to keep all the traffic going in the right direction, & right now we are in a one way street --- all heading for our money back! lol

Thanks for the heads up

This website is a lifesaver to many of us. We are quite happy with the way it is controlled, I do not like all the back biting. Please leave the controllers alone, they are doing a good job in a very awkward situation.
We have enough problems without fighting amongst ourselves. Keep up the good work and thanks for making this site available for us to find out whats going on!!

I'm with Moneypenny. Leave it

I'm with Moneypenny.
Leave it out chaps.. these guys started the web site, run the web site, fight for all our money back, arrange publicity for us in our plight and we need to give them the encouragement they deserve.. not snipe. It's a tough job and they do it for nought but the hope we will ALL get our cash back.
Of course the site has an agenda.. and it's pretty plain what it is..
Get Everybody All our Money Back!!
