I think there is a need for a forum where bugs and their fixes are reported and knowledge base type information is passed around. The FAQ is good but limited.

The capcha you entered is incorrect.
This happens every time. It is never correct.
I enter the next capcha.
This is accepted. Always. The second capcha is never incorrect.
A nuisance.

Hi. I've never been able to view the pdf files from the links in forum comments. I have a vague recollection of this being raised in the past?

All I get is the blue ff or IE strip on top and a white screen, then have to end task and come back in.

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.
Ta.

Ok, a rebuild of that table seems to have fixed it. "watchdog" is only for logging errors, so not critical data. Something has caused the server to become unstable and that is leading to further problems such as this one. We are looking for a solution, but unfortunately its a very intermittent problem and that is the worst kind to try and fix.

Are you still seeing that? Things do seem to be going wrong after many many weeks with no issues at all. We are working on it.

I've just posted a comment: no problem, returned to the posting page (rather than a window displaying repeat messages of the watchdog issue).
Thanks

Hi can you help me I can't seem to stay logged in. Every time I look at a new comment I flip back to being a visitor and asked to log on again? I'm not very technological so maybe I am doing something wrong?

Sounds like a cookies problem

Hi annespension. This sounds like a 'cookies' problem. A cookie is a small text file created by this site through your web browser that holds your login information. It sounds like you may have cookies disabled in your browser's settings, which means your login won't 'stick'.

Can I ask what web browser you're using? I'm going to assume Internet Explorer - if so, then possibly the easiest way to fix this is to put this website into the cookie overrides list. Do this as follows:
In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options...
Click on the Privacy tab, then click on the Edit button.
Add "www.ksfiomdepositors.org" (without the quotes) and click Allow. It should be added to the list below.
Click OK.

Also, make sure you're using the correct web address:
http://www.ksfiomdepositors.org/

(We had a few different ones previously and the way we forward from these old addresses may be causing your problem.)

Hope that helps!

Stef

Possibly a little drastic, as it'll disable 3rd party toolbars and suchlike, but this may fix it:

NG - like the new look of the site. You are doing an excellent job. Noticed that the link to Press' in the banner/ header actually links to http://www.ksfiomdepositors.org/view/actions/summary and also the links under 'title' of that page donot display any text - only heading info. You are probably working on it, but had not seen anyone mention it.

and working on it. Writing documentation is very time consuming as I'm sure you know. My priorities at the moment are adding some needed functionality - not much point in doing too much documentation until the site functionality is a bit more stable - the existing Help/FAQ is already out of data with the latest round of additions and enhancements.

Shortly will be adding a FAQ module that allows you to ask questions and have them answered, so building up the FAQ organically.

Actually I also want t change the look of the site (layout, colours, banner) but hard to regard that as a priority.

Page Banner Issue

I have noticed that the banner at the top of the page (currently asking us all to speak to our MP's) only renders if viewed in Internet Explorer 7.

I have tried looking at the forum pages using IE6, FireFox and Google Chrome and none of them show the banner.

Any ideas why this header should be browser specific (CSS problem perhaps?).

This would mean that the big headline will be missed by a lot of people.

Can't see the banner anymore, has it been removed? (and i'm using IE 7). I'll blame it on MS - seems it is easy to blame everyone else for your screw ups (ain't that right Messrs Brown and Darling). This forum is getting more theraputic by the day!!!

Rendering perfectly well on iMac/OSx/Safari ... assuming that means "can you see it". All this stuff is way beyond me, which is why I left the wonderful world of MS for Apple.

Glad to hear it :-)

I do like an apple now and again - granny smiths mostly!!

I also tried FireFox on my Ubuntu (Linux) machine and that didn't work either, so we can't even gang up on Micro$oft and blame them. Come to think of it, now that Bill G has retired and gone all Philanthropic, do you think he'd lend us a couple of quid if we asked him nicely? Perhaps he's in the market for a second-hand bank!!

There has been a lot of activity 'behind the scenes' by the Forum IT team the past 24 hrs or so.
I think you will find that logging-in problem is no longer....a problem.

I guess I'll be the first to report a problem: I have trouble staying signed-in. is there a timeout for staying signed-in? Sometimes I sign-in and immediately it reverts back to signed-off status. Can you please investigate?

Yep... same problem here, for last couple of days.

Keep getting logged out for no apparent reason, so have to sign in every 10 mins or so.
Also whenever open topic thread in new page, always have to log on again - which did not happen in the past.

Appreciate a tweak to sort.

Thanks

Still happening. While not a problem on your own PC. If you're using one to which others have access it could mean that you believe you've logged off. Then anyone using that PC only has to click login and they are you and can post any rubbish they choose in your name. So, important to consciously logout when you leave.
