I also bank with LloydsTSB in the channel islands but certainly not for much longer.....
As a customer with them for many many years being charged just to have an account, I have been subjected to unbelievable displays of incompedence and mis-management which has cost me financially.

Having just waited in all afternnoon for a non-existant promised phone call regarding a transfer than never took place when it should!!!! I am wild with anger at f ... ing banks within the geographical confines of so called Great Britain.

I just called them and their nonchalent attitude speaks volumes of what we are up against. They simply don't give a shit one way or another. Kinda like our plight with the likes of Darling, Brown and Simpson!
The UK and all who fall under the influence of this miserable bunch of clowns that call themselves a government are all on a sinking ship. I have NEVER experienced such bad customer service anywhere in the world as I do from the British! Sorry, I am one and I am so ashamed of it. What the F..k has happened to my country?

I live overseas and I have no intentions of ever returning to a place that I simply cannot now call home!
I will now make tracks to close all my accounts anywhere near that cesspit just north of france! They need me much more than I need them.
Incidently, the word around the world now is that UK is the next Iceland! I can see why. All the same mistakes. The hole is too big to plug, the only option now is to jump ship! I'm gone! Forever.

I banked with both KSF IOM and with Landsbanki Guernsey. (Yes - I know!)

All I can tell you is that at least the IOM had a depositor compensation scheme, which they promptly increased and made retrospective. Their government has supported us as depositors - as best they can, which is considerably more than the big fat zero provided by Guernsey.

When one cuts past all the crocodile tears, eight weeks in there has been no support, in tangible terms and the new Depositor Protection Scheme, introduced into law yesterday, will not be retrospective. Jersey as yet has no scheme whatsoever.

I know where I'd put my money - if I had any left!!

We had some funds in Woolwich Guernsey on a Fixed Deal which matured last Friday. We would have moved them out of Guernsey sooner if we could have broken the deal, but today received confirmation that the funds have been transferred out. I will sleep much better tonight with one less worry.

I gve up on Lloyds years ago, they were so terrible - though way back in the 70s my bank manager (back in the days when you knew your bank manager) was delighted to have an expat customer because he was a keen philatelist and getting stamps from strange places was a joy for him!

I have to say, however, that I have just been dealing with Nationwide, with whom I have a tiny UK account, in an effort to release some funds. I had to send my passbook (horrors!) which obviously got lost in the post and in panic I emailed Nationwide whose staff have been great - emails every day to let me know whether my mail had arrived or not, and then, when not, sent me the requisite forms to complete and return to UK in a stamped addressed envelope. It was just so refreshing, and so so helpful. So I've checked their offshore accounts, in the event that I WILL get my shekels back from KSFIOM, with a view to moving there.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have a bank account in Chile and the customer service here is light years ahead of what you are subjected to in the UK. Depositors are even allocated a bank executive who personally deals with all your demands, requests and complaints-with a smile.

Be wary, be very wary!!!

I too banked (notice the tense) with lloyds TSB in the Channel Islands, then I discovered that in fact my deposit account with them was actaually in the Isle of Man.
I shut down that account pronto.
Safer to leave any money out in the garden than that!!!

LTSB JSY = IOM? Whooops, thanks for that. I'm LTSB UK, and popped in to the JSY branch today looking at some of their accounts. However, as a lifetime LTSB customer, I'll explore a little further ... there must be a parental guarantee somewhere LOL LOL LOL
