I logged into KSF IOM (not Edge) and got my balance and printed it out. There are two links on this page http://www.kaupthingsingers.co.uk/?pageid=3985 one for Edge and one for IOM.

I have been confused about the situation with on-line access. I realise the posts here say "Edge Accounts only" but why is that?

When Mike Simpson announced the re-opening of the bank's online facility, I do not recall it saying that it would be solely for Edge accounts.

Is this definitely the case that non-Edge accounts cannot be accessed? Thanks.

Hi Sami,

They can now be accessed; I was able, for instance, to see that tax had been deducted from mine on Ocotber 9th.... What a world! It's enough tto drive you over the edge.

Edge accts are the same in KSFIOM as they are/were in KSF UK except they have NOT been transferred to ING. They are an online savings account, as opposed to a fixed term acct, a bond through a third party (eg AXA), a current acct, a business acct.

Non Edge accounts will be accessible soon, I am sure that frog and laserblues2 through their weekly 'chats' with Mike Simpson will let us know when.

Have just managed to log onto the Edge website via the link in the Senior Citizen's Party e-mail. My balance shows interest added! However, I'm a bit confused by the following statement which also appears in the email:

"a) The money that depositors invested with Kaupthing Edge, which is the Internet Bank of Kaupthing is perfectly safe. I have contacted ING Direct and have been assured that the funds and all the depositors' details are in the process of being transferred to ING Direct in Nottingham. Depositors can however access their accounts by entering their User IDs and Passwords at the original Kaupthing Edge website at: www.kaupthingedge.co.im and clicking on IMPORTANT CUSTOMER INFORMATION and then on KAUPTHING EDGE (IOM) LOG-IN. I cannot personally check this as I am not a depositor but if you have any trouble gaining access please telephone +44 (0)1624 699300. I have nevertheless received conflicting reports as to whether you can in fact transfer or withdraw funds, and am still pursuing this. I have attached the letter from Johan de Wit, Chief Executive Officer ING Direct UK, as a Word file"

Surely, this only applies to Kaupthing Edge UK depositors? As far as I was aware, Kaupthing Edge IOM was not included in the deal. Has SCP got the wrong end of the stick?

ferrandiere....Yes you're quite correct .Only Kaupthing Edge UK accounts have been moved to ING,by order of the UK treasury, using some £2.6Bn of UK taxpayers' money. Can you post the contents of Johan de Wit's letter so we can see what he is actually saying ?

Just for the record, this appears on the Edge IOM login page:

"If you have forgotten your login information, please contact Customer Services on +44 (0)1624 699300.
This site is available to former Kaupthing Edge Isle of Man customers to view account balances and transactions. We regret the facility to request a transfer of funds or to switch funds between accounts is not currently available. "

masu..thanks for posting the letter It's clear to me that he is referring to the UK Edge accounts only.
I have e-mailed Mr Leon-Smith to put him straight on this matter and also to thank him for taking up our cause as I think he could generate much public and media interest:

Dear Mr. Leon-Smith,
I write as a depositor in KSFIOM and would firstly like to thank you and your organisation for taking up our cause.
Having read your recent e-mail which has been posted on the DAG site I would like to point out the following:

1) KSFIOM Edge accounts have NOT been taken over by ING. Only KSFUK accounts were transferred to ING by virtue of the UK treasury's transfer order, and using £2.6Bn UK taxpayers money.

2) Alistair Brown may have said that the £550M does not belong to the UK government but that has not prevented the effective freezing of that money by virtue of KSF UK having been put into administration, and further by s27 of the transfer order which states that no assets may be transferred from KSFUK to KSFIOM without the express permission of the UK treasury. Recovery of the £550M, which rightly belongs to KSFIOM depositors, is the only solution which is likely to bring about a substantial recovery of the 8000 KSFIOM depositors' own money. The treasury holds the key to this, as only they could authorise the return of this money. Alistair Brown has said that this would be giving priority to one set of KSFUK creditors over the others. He doesn't mention the fact that transferring accounts of all KSFUK Edge depositors has given them a huge priority over all other depositors / creditors ! In fact the administrators Ernst & Young have been instructed by the treasury, to give the transfers to ING utmost priority over all other matters, in the administration of KSFUK.

I hope that your organisation can help us to bring this whole scandalous affair to the attention of the british public in an effort to shame Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling into releasing the £550M without further delay. It would be such a simple thing for them to do, to put an end to the untold suffering and misery of some 8,000 innocent depositors, yet they are so obstinate, pig-headed and heartless as to even discuss the matter in the open or even reply to a single one of the hundreds of MPs and others who we know are still awaiting replies, after anything up to 10 weeks of waiting, to their questions on this affair.

Good luck to us all in 2009,

Yours sincerely,

When I logged on this e-mail was waiting for me

Date: 8 Oct Time: 12.54 pm

Dear Customer,

In view of the current turmoil in global financial markets, we'd like to update you on today's very positive developments concerning the Isle of Man Depositors Compensation Scheme.

On 7th October 2008 the Isle of Man Treasury issued a press release in which the Treasury Minister Allan Bell MHK announced that ...the Isle of Man's deposit protection would be increased to GBP50,000 for both local and international individual depositors. Mr Bell went on to say -- he will seek Tynwald approval to the revised protection limit at the October Tynwald - which commences on 21st October 2008.

Mr Bell concluded that with these changes the Isle of Man will continue to have a scheme that offers excellent real protection to individual depositors wherever they live.

This is obviously a very supportive initiative by the Manx authorities which, coupled with the strength of the Kaupthing brand, hopefully gives you comfort in these uncertain times.

How can Simpson "re-credit" transferred funds when he says that he doesn't have the money?

This is false accounting by anyone's reckoning!!..

Simpson is only doing it so that there is a bigger "pot" for him to distribute when he eventually (if he does) get funds back from KFSUK. Simpson denies it but has no right to the transferred funds which are frozen in the UK.

The UK liquidators know this but ares also trying to ignore it as they cannot be bothered to reconcile the suspense account and just want to hand over all cash to Ing to please the UK government.

Once again the only information I receive is from this site!!
I'm an Edge depositor and have just logged on and found I'm not an 'in-flighter' anymore - they've clawed my transfer back.
At least I know where it is now, I can't get at it but it's there - virtually - or it's virtually there - whichever way you want to say it - it's not at my disposal (yet), but it's there on screen.
Thanks for the info - this site really is my lifeline.

Many thanks ng for posting this link in the Shout Box, and to those who provided it. (How did you get it? How would we find out otherwise?)

https://online.kaupthingedge.co.im/InternetBanking/faces/mdi/login.jsp

So, this is the link, and up comes the log-in page as "normal" - though it's much more basic now... Use your normal log-in details. I went to the My Accounts page - and we have a single figure there - the total of our deposits, including interest up to October 8th. I also went to the Accounts Details page - normally we don't get statements as such - just printouts - but it says that statements will (now) be Quarterly - the next due January 9th. It also says our account is "Active" , and states our "Pending Balance".

So, it's all there - all our virtual money, safe and sound.

The log in details are only valid for those of us who didn't get statements dated Sept 30th due to being internet customers -

Here is a quote fro the update notice on the KSF website

Edge and online Accounts
As stated last week work continues on the restoration of Edge and online accounts in a “READ ONLY” format, for customers to print copies of statements. It has been necessary to engage outside specialist to develop additional functionality for the computer software that supports the online functions and we hope they are able to complete this task imminently.

I got a statement for Sept 30 as mine is a 32 day notice account BUT I cannot log onto the website - it tells me my ID or password is invalid.

That will be difficult for me to check as I am in China - but will try to call them later today.

Good question - and not easy to answer!
I've been checking this out. Can find nothing about theoretical statement frequency!

With Derbyshire: INTEREST was credited annually in July and I was getting one STATEMENT per year, around 1 May, from 2002 to 2005. In 2006, I had 3 "transaction notices" following transactions, but nothing more marked "statement" until the last from Derbyshire date 1 July 2007. Maybe I lost one, thought I doubt it.

With KSF it became even more confusing. A first STATEMENT dated 20 March 2008 in format like Derbyshire's was followed by a KSF-style "statement" on 1 July 2008 (with annual interest credited).

On 9 July 2008, I closed the "tracker" account and transferred the funds to a new "Platinum Offshore Access" account (can no longer remember why, but it sounded a better deal). So in fact I was wrong - I no longer officially have an ex-Derbyshire tracker account. Then, still in July 2008, an untitled paper saying "We have today passed the following entries over your account", which didn't even give the balance of the account! This was the last I heard from KSF until the statement received recently dated 30 September 2008.

So, in conclusion (!), it looks like I was supposed to receive an annual statement (originally in May but changed to July), so I no longer understand why I received one now. Maybe the Platinum account is different, but I haven't had it long enough to know.

Finally, not much help for you, but here's hoping you get something soon anyway. I too am hoping to get my fixed interest account statements in the next days ...

I have a Manx 1 year bond which was taken out with the Derbyshire in November 2007. This was all my pension savings. Since the demise of the bank I have not had one piece of communication from them. I have sent in my registration of interest to the kaupthing website without a response.
Can anyone help to tell me the current situation for KSFIOM Derbyshire bond holders. Can I see statements anywhere. how do I do this. ?
Help please
