I hope that the bank employees and in particular the CEO are not still on the payroll – further eroding the possibility of getting our full amount back.

folks, i have spoken to a couple of contacts in the bank today. sad news for the staff in that most will be made redundant next friday. as is normally the case in these situations, a small number will be kept on to continue to help the pwc team. as the pwc announcements have said, other companies are looking at bits of the business, no surpirse there though. sunny south - nothing too surprising tonight i'm afraid

I am currently an employee but as of the 24th of October I will no longer have a job at KS&F.
Please see my posting entitled I'm Sorry.
I know everyone has their own story but I have a week to find a new job, a 10 week old daughter to feed and keep in nappies, a wife who is on maternity leave (so no salary) and no savings to supplement my income should I not be able to find a new job.

I wish everyone a speedy solution.

Of course they are still on the payroll, they are sitting the bank, working out their notice period... and spending all day on the phone answering our questions

  1. Do we really want them all not to be at work and we are left all in the dark with no way to call anyone at KSFIOM?
  2. They are simple employees, who in my opinion did a bloody good job at customer service, better than any other bank I have ever been with.
  3. As for Aidan, well we do not know exactly what he knew and when, but all evidence points to the fact that he also was kept in the dark about this. Hell, the UK Govt didn't even tell the IOM Govt anything until it happened.
  4. Maybe there is legitimate blame to be directed at him, maybe there is absolutely none. But unless someone has verifiable information one way or another, personal attacks are not the way forward.
  5. As for the money aspect of staff salaries, it is a contractual and legal matter that they are entitled to be paid for their (continued) work, therefore it's not even worth discussing, in my opinion.

Of course that's just my opinion, you may feel differently.

There are presently 60 staff employed at the bank. That corresponds to a current weekly salary bill of, say, around £35,000 plus overheads.

That is said to be the amount owed to depositors, although I am not even sure that is correct, but I fear it is very far from the amount that is likely to be available for repaying them

Most bank employees were savers with the bank as well, had no knowledge of events until they happened, and have lost BOTH their savings and their jobs.
At least some of them are already present on this forum, providing valuable updates and insight that can help us further our cause to get our money back.

Yes, I agree. Tryng to get my money out from so far away was a hopeless situation. I received only courtesy and good manners when I spoke to the ladies who answered the calls (I was able to get through on three occasions over 2 days). A lady called Hilary (the only name I remember) was wonderful, and even though unable to help me, was very calm and informative.

They are, and would be in any event (they are in their notice period).

They are currently working at the branch.

They should also be entitled to redundancy payments.

I am sure forum contributors would wish to join in making a donation to purchase a farewell gift to the Managing Director of the bank, Aidan Doherty. Please also suggest suitable gifts.

I am also looking for suggestions from contributors as to a secure account in which to deposit the gift fund, because readers may think it inappropriate to ask for advice from Aidan.

So far we have:
a couple of quid, but conditional on an unlikely event,
a polishing cloth for dangling orbs,
a turnip lantern,
and a generous plaudit from an admirer

It's not a very impressive fund so far, but it is substantially more than any of his depositors have been able to get.

I hear that Mr Doherty is an extremely accomplished conkers player, i for one would be prepared to contribute to a nice space age fibre conker duster so that he can keep his chestnut coloured spheres in top condition.
Another idea maybe a nice turnip lantern, this could mean he could see his way though the dark abyss that he has got us into, maybe he will come and find us :)

Elgee,

if you suggestion is sincere I applaud your capacity to resist the normal human response which would be at the very least to decry Mr. Doherty, I however doubt that you will be able to find many people on this forum with either the funds or inclination to contribute.

If you are not sincere I should like to point out that I have always found Mr. Doherty to be a person of outstanding character and I have no doubt whatsoever that he did the best he could under the circumstances.

If you want someone to hold in contempt maybe you should look further north as I have no doubt that he was sold up the river by his Icelandic masters!
