30 something male. Looking to live on remote Island in the north atlantic. plans are sketchy at the moment but goes a bit like this.

Get off plane and head for the local government authority.
Tell them I have money but there will be a delay getting it. possibly 60 days or so.
Ask for a home and a modest income for the forseable future. Or until my money arrives.
Chance my arm and ask for food vouchers/ petrol tokens.

Peter, roundly in the 60 somethingish group. Me, squarely in the 40ish. Right now he's considering using me as a pension scheme, or even putting me on the streets! Me, I'm considering anyone out there 40ish, (or 30ish) and solvent with a nice yacht not insured by KSFIOM. Am I in the right forum?

Blonde lady, dog lover, do you know anything about limber tail? Since this has happened my dog's tail has gone limp - droops down between his legs - I'm wondering if in sympathy for me. I'm not sure if it's this, or something nerves-related, but anyway, there's no way that I can afford the expected medical fees to have him scanned now. Depending where you are, you'd love this example of mine of the indigenous species. Regarding other aspects of your requested profile, I'm a complete novice. See these skills in practice, like you, but never thought I'd need them.

Hello broke 2.So sorry to hear about your furry friend . I work with animals and would be happy to see him for free if you live in London.

If not, try the internet : you will find quite a few articles on limber tail but in short, it seems as though it will heal on its own in a few days to 2 weeks. It could be the result of swimming in cold water, of over exertion, of over training.........but it does get back to normal on its own it seems. If it isnt limber/cold tail, then a vet would be the best place to go. The Blue Cross, and the RSPCA will see you for free, or very little -

Though poverty can sometimes be good for health : The less medical intervention one has the better , more often than not ....... But you wont have to worry about poverty for long either : we will ,like you dogs tail , be up and happily wagging again , bank accounts full . ....but it might take a bit longer than 2 weeks

Could also be that the musk gland under his tail is blocked. Had a Labrador with this once and like you, thought he'd come out in sympathy with me at the time. This is painful for a dog and takes a few minutes for a vet to clear - shouldn't cost much either.

Hi broke2.
Is your dog a working dog...lab/retriever or similar? Its quite common with them and usually is benign and clears up within a few days. Warm compresses, rest and low dose asprin often helps.
I dont often see this as its very warm here but often damp working conditions can cause this in UK.
Dogs do feel owners misery you know so that might also be why he is down cast....my dogs...more than 70....are not half so playful these days...need to catch more fish!!

TS,
I think you need to start your own blog. Desert island conditions, 70 dogs (other than possibly being hounds what on earth do you do with them?) and managing to be in the middle of nowhere and getting caught up in the North Atlantic cod wars!!

Hi Sunny South
Well...thats a good question.... most of my day is taken up with just general care and attention. I do health programmes in the vicinity too like tomorrow I have some volunteer vets coming to the village to do free sterilisation of dogs in the hope it will cut down the number of unwanted pups left at my gate or literally thrown over the wall.
Last week we had a tsunami warning middle of te night so trying to round them all up was a nightmare...how do you catch more than 70 dogs in the pitch black with a siren going off!!!!
With all thats going on, its scary facing daily food problems...feeding so many is a big expense and money is short!!
Maybe some kindly dog food company would like to take up an amazing publicity campaign...free dog food and in exchange all the publicity they like...how good is that!!

Hi Tsunamivictim,

I do feel for you with all those mouths to feed. I am a fellow dog lover with two border collies. I think you idea of asking for assistance from a dog food company with the view to them gaining the publicity is wonderful.

With what has been achieved on this site in such a short time I believe if you are passionate enough about something you can move heaven and earth so to speak.

I would assist you in research etc.. We would need to write up how you cannot afford the dog food due to the bank situation and how you came to take care of so many dogs. The fact that you have volunteer vets doing the spaying etc shows how much work you must have done already. Perhaps we should chat via our emails.

Every cloud has a silver lining and yours may be free food for your dogs from a big corporation like Pedigree Pal.

Hi there...
Yes...I keep hoping a dog food company will jump up and down with excitement at the unique photo/sponsorship opportunity!!
We ended up spaying 167 dogs in two days...exhausting. Also, I kept 3 puppies who were almost dead, one big old guy with a very infectious wound which needs anti biotic injections for 10 days and an old lady with an enormous tumor which my vets removed and needs constant attention until she gets better ....so added another 5 mouths to feed. Hey Ho...so it goes...anyone know eukanuba or Pal or ANY dried dog company that wasnts to help...please let me know!!
Pity we couldnt get Gordon Brown here at the same time.......

If the under 40s can get together and start a lonely hearts' club, then the over 60s (or close) could get together to start a Retirement Village for those Struck Down and Cleaned Out by Iceland.

South Africa would be a good place for it - sunshine all year around, and a huge drop of 33% in our currency against Sterling this last week (now R20 to the GBP) makes it a cheap place for all SD and COs. Nicely decent bottle of red wine now costs 2.50p and an indecent bottle 1.50p

Any other suggestions?

Wrote that original posting during a moment of weirdness, but it now seems that perhaps the topic should be resurrected, if only for some light diversion. Of course we should remember that money can't buy you love nor happiness, which is just as well under the circumstances.

So, since I have absolute power here as far as the content of the website is concerned - apparently women are attracted to power but I think its more the CEO with Ferrari type of power, anyway - we can have a Group for "singles" or whatever it might be called. "Broke and Lonely" perhaps. Just say the word.

BIG PARTY!

How about we open a new Group topic on the where and how we are going to celebrate the return of our money

We will need a location:
London - IOM - Iceland (after all we did promise to go there for a vacation.)

We could invite "guests":
this could be quite fun subject imagine how the insider secrets would come out with the booze

We need a date:
I will leave that for now but definately 2008!

We need a team for organizing:
All the singles on the site

Just a little comic relief

I lve in South Africa and believe me it is wonderful here, wish I could send you pics of our spring garden. The rand has just gone to about 18 to the pound so if you want to buy a house over here it will cost you (if you have anything left) 100,000 sterling for a four bedroomed house with swimming pool and servants quarters. Booze is also very cheap. Keep me in mind for the party.

I'm sorry I didn't notice your reply, having been very busy with server migration and other topics. I too am looking forward to the huge party we're all going to have when we win this thing. Is it at your house? I haven't been to Hertfordshire for a long time. I live in Madrid but can jump on a plane to Luton to arrive in time for the party, or indeed any other invitation :)

So Julienne, how about a party on the beach when it's all over and we are solvent again? It's not really bikini weather now, but not too bad. Beats Hertfordshire, let alone the Isle of Man.

Seriously won't know where to put the funds anyway, not back in a bank, that's for sure, might as well buy a boat or something. How about a romantic cruise? Well, would probably end in disaster as I have no idea about boats - much better with motorcycles, but they tend not to float so well.

KSF depositors Singles Beach party in spain, a cruise.....What a great idea ng!!.......
However, think we should also get the cameras in, and then sell the rights to Hollywood for series 2 of "The love Boat" ......we could get simon cowell and the X Factor finalists to record us a new love boat theme tune, and then we could flog it on itunes at midnight on the release date, and all proceeds could go to .....yes....you got it.....us, the poor "Single & broke" KSFiom depositers!!!!
OK....i admit to being a bit loopy at the moment ( lack of sleep and too much wine over the last few weeks!)
But what the heck, at least it would pay expats hotel bill and the server costs, not to mention tide us all over then till we get our money back!

I reckon that if we boarded the "love boat" WHEN we get our dosh back we will all be so delirious that it might look something like "a Roman orgy boat" .
