Attached is my full tabloid depth (30cm X 11cm) ad for the IOM News papers - layout/concept. Illustration and type to be polished further. I will be finalizing it tomorrow am.

I was the Art Director (depositor) who posted the two posters last week which were to be posted near Westminster and bus side adaptations too near that route, but after the TSC Meeting last week our position has changed a little re the communication with the treasury here and HMG.

We have space which I have to pay for by Monday am just short 1500 pounds - we have collected so far around 600 pounds. 1500 pounds is only about 75pence per depositor on this whole group of over 2000.
Please tap on my DAG name and you will get my email address to send donation via pay pal. I am working very hard with Adrienne Leibenberg who is fighting around the clock with others like ourselves as larger depositors trying to avoid liquidation (a dirty word and SoA) which will never give us back 100% of our deposits - perhaps some of it over many years of litigation.

Adrienne herself and her sister are willing to put 400 pounds into this media budget to save her parents life savings (who live in Zimbabwe), but I don’t think they should - we should all chip in. If you have over 50,000 fight on with us for a fairer return for those of us who have more to lose and impossible to re earn. The thing that I find very worrying re the IOM - I went to the Court hearing on Jan 29th is that they estimate a 71% return of our money then after lunch they eastimated 65% return they said in the IOM court that the dcs would be paid out in november this year (bad enough) then in the TSC they said two years and that the SOA by July or August this year - who knows with their uncommited "Guestimates" . We have to fight on for a "Preferential Sovereign loan" especially all of us with more than 50,000 at stake.

We are still part of the DAG and we as everyone very much appreciate the core group’s huge devoted efforts and tenacity and thanks to them - the Channel 4 covering the exposed scandal at the TSC last Tuesday.

Hopefully you will get the number of innocent victims correct before going to press. It is 10,000 not 2,000

Dear Fight Theft,

Have read that the money has been raised. If more is needed in future I am quite willing to contribute but am not willing to use PayPal. If you require further donations would it be possible to provide a facility whereby a bank transfer can be made.

Thanks for all your good work and let's hope this will start to focus minds on the IOM.

If you can set up the "donate" button in your PayPal account I can post it here - that is much better than posting the PayPal-linked email address (although we do have some protection here against email addresses being harvested, so not a huge issue.)

Very good ad, and very good idea - thank you - but I don't understand why it is not going in until the 14th, or the significance of that date. I know the IOM Treasury has to have its next affidavit in by the 12th at the latest. Can someone clarify for me please. What have I missed?

I understand the relevance of using the 14th date but the Isle of Man's affidavit regarding the Scheme of Arrangement has to be in by the 12th.

.....and in IOM Courier Newspaper Full page depth this Thursday - I went to the IOM court hearing two weeks ago and the TSC ( which I'm glad I did). The relevence of Valentine's Feb 14th is that was the date given by the Deemster ( judge) in the IOM hearing on Jan 29th, but since Valetine's Day falls on a weeend they made the official Affidavit date the 12th ( Friday). All in The IOM are aware of the relevence of these dates.

Clarification re the 14th - thank you

This is proving a technical step too far for me!

I have a new paypal account, I have reached the send page,

which asks for the destination email address,

but I don't know how to extract your email address from your DAG info.

I have used the contact form before to send emails to others, but I can't work

out what I do to put a suitable destination email into paypal!

Help please.

Hi coldlightofday! Good to meet with you in the IoM! You will need to ask fight theft to email you as the forum only provides a means of contacting those who've chosen to make the 'contact' button visible - it does not make one's email address available to see. Once you've exchanged emails you will both have each others email address so you will then be able to send the payment by PayPal! Lou

Just to add, it's preferable not to publish a PayPal payment email address on this or any other public site - (although the DAG Legal Contributions address is published.) It's not a huge problem, but what tends to happen is that it gets picked up for use in phishing attempts - the result is you receive email (spam) to that address which claims to be from PayPal but in fact is an attempt to trick you into reveal you PayPal password and/or other personal data. So, long as you ignore any such false message, there is no danger. More information about phishing.

PayPal provide a "button" feature (an example is the IT donations button) which does not expose email address and so avoids the problem.

Hi All. Adrienne here! I feel I should let you know I have heard from over 70 people in the last few days in support of some vigorous action before the hearing on the 19th.

I love these posters, I think they could capture some hearts and minds in these last crucial days

Above my families £400, we have had commitment for £450, and I have only asked a few in the last 24 hours, so we are close to the number.

help try to make an impact on IOM over the next few days. If a miracle happens, they hear us.

Great idea. I will send funds. I'd only like to see it tweaked to be more strongly worded, pulling a bit less on the heartstrings and more on the self-interest. And be explicit about the 557m for the less closely-following public. (That's just how it strikes me would be best: disagree and I'll still support this valiant effort.) Fwiw my suggested wording follows:

Mr. Brown and Mr. Bell
You hold the key to prevent a
St Valentine’s Day Massacre.

Victims: 2000 depositors

and the future of
The Isle of Man
as a financial centre.

£557million of our bank deposits are frozen in the UK.

We call on you to negotiate with
The UK Treasury and FSA for
A Preferential Sovereign Loan to
Return our funds
Now

Act now before Feb 14th
Before it’s too late

Please post any shortfall in financing this. Adreienne should not have to pay a penny herself. but I am sure she will just to feel the pleasure of having invested in a just cause on behalf of her parents.

I am not against your idea of some political cartoons either " picture speaks louder than words". I was going to email our top brilliant political cartoonist famous enough to be permeanantly in the National Portraits Gallery Trafalger Square: Sir Gerald Scarf - if you tap his name into Google and see his website -you'll see a couple of brilliant Darling and Brown cartoons to - lost in the finacial crisis!
Failing that if I can get my head above water from being a one- woman Advertising Agency/Art Director (which I have been for over 20 years)/Copywriter/Production dept/ and Media Space buyer then I could posibly turn around a cartoon myself, ( I used to be able to do them as I was also trained as an illustrator at Art College many moons ago), but all takes time and takes me away from trying to re- earn a little of my 27 years of life savings lost -.... let's see... the past two weeks I have worked day and night...and was at the Jan 29th Court hearing and the TSC Meeting on Tuesday. Glad you like the ad enough to say; " brilliant example of....etc" thanks Jim let's keep fighting....

Thanks ff for sharing somethiing of your background. This is exactly the sort of information I feel we need from other members to make our MacDonalds hamburger into an 8 course banquet ! ( : I am sure there are many other members here who have special slills & talent in various fields that we have not yet been able to tap into as yet for the benefit of our Mission.

Glad you looked in on my blog cartoon spot! My cartoons are not exactly professional looking (like those of Scarff & Matt & Co.) but I am trying to make them say something relevant to the cause of the DAG & maybe put a smile on a few unhappy faces. I will post another one on Sunday.

I thought I might post one to IoMToday to see if they might be interested in posting it.... timing has to be right with that idea.

I am not precious about my blog and am more than happy for it to be generic to the Forum, so if you would like to share in the cartoon blog I have started you are very welcome. You are, of course, free to post your own seperately if you wish.

I used to lecture in the Commmunications/Advertisng Course in: Concept, Art direction and Graphic Design. I may be able to enrol the help of students a very reduced cost to us all, and get disounted rates on Media space and printing - problem is I'm only here for a very limited time as I live abroad and haven't seen my husband since Dec15th - due to me giving extended time to our cause.
