On the Dutch TV news this evening it was announced that Kaupthing had paid back most of the money invested by the province of Groningen and the city of Dordrecht. Unfortunately the only links I can find so far are in Dutch .

The Politics Show, interview today to be shown on Sunday

2008-11-20 (All day)

The BBC made contact with us yesterday confirming their plan to run a four minute slot on the KSF(IOM) crisis, this Sunday 23rd November 12 Noon until 1pm. They wanted an interview today. As you can imagine we covered many items including some key topics, we discussed with Diver late last night.
To edit four minutes from two hours of filming is going to be difficult for their producer who had a superb knowledge of the situation and was excellent to work with.

We obviously have no control on the final film even though we made certain requests, we can only hope that some of the key points were left in.

They were looking for our personal story leading up to the 8th October and the trauma since. They obviously asked for our views on the way HMG has handled the situation and our thoughts for a solution. They did not want to get into the complex detail surrounding some of the political issues and with only four minutes of viewing time you can see why.

If our cause gets four minutes of valuable national profile we should be delighted.

Thank you for your e-mail.

We note you were disappointed that the Chancellor of the Exchequer was not questioned on the collapse of the Icelandic bank Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander during his interview on the 'Politics Show' on 16 November.

The programme issued a broad appeal for questions that viewers would like to see put to Alistair Darling and were grateful for all the suggestions they received.

They did debate raising the issue of Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander with the Chancellor but felt that the issue would need more context and explanation than it would be possible to offer in the time available during the interview.

The team at 'The Politics Show' are very keen to cover the issue – but want to do it justice. As a result they are planning on covering it in the form of a short film with a reporter. This will hopefully be broadcast either in next week's programme or the following week.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Regards
